Eventually, I usually read a lot of most game manuals. But there is something about just starting up a game and being able to play without the manual. Tos is somewhere between you don't have to read the manual and you have to read the manual to play. ALso, TOS is most fully enjoyed after reading the manual. sad but true.

I do not disagree, it's just that there's a difference between playing a game and PLAYING a game. If I like a game enough, I read everything I can about it; if I don't, why bother - with the game, not the docs.

The main advantage of the manual IMO is it explains all the color codes, shortcuts and popups that you might not notice while playing. For experienced gamers of course. For beginners, reading it is mandatory, cause the ToS system is not intuitive at all.

Like I said. You can have fun playing TOS without reading the manual. But if you really want to play TOS to full advantage and rain unholy terror upon your enemies. . . for example: (Iceman, Hetz, Steel, Peter Y) then you'll end up reading the manual.

Also, you'll crouch in forests, Hide behind mountains, Jump Shoot land crouch, Dodge like a Motha (not mother?), and run like hell at all times unless you're in Hell. . .ironic isn't it.
