Holy ****! I've just been to Chips & Bits to pre-order UV, and the buggers have changed their international shipping - now they only offer courier (3-5 days) at a staggering $28 to Japan, bringing the total to $78!!!!!! I'm doomed - that was my lifeline to affordable games until now......anyone know any alternatives? :(

Get them to ship it to a friend somewhere that's cheap to ship to and get them to on-mail it to you? Having said that, US$28 is still a lot cheaper than many places charge, the ursury sods.
