Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Looks great, it's shaping up as the definitive hex-based wargame. But keep working on those more manageable, smaller scenarios!

I could not agree more....It would be nice to have a few 10-20 turn introductory scenarios...they would not need to be tutorial scenarios, but small enough in both counter and map size to allow a novice player to use all of the rule and features in a small contained game.....once mastered, then it would be on to the larger scenarios....

In my view 20 turn scenarios are easily PBEM'd

30 turn scenarios are also good to PBEM.

Every scenario needs to be PBEM'd right through to it's end else you will never get a balanced result.

From the first screen shot in that stack of 3:

Can you select 1 unit, 2 units or 3 units as you see fit?

If you select multiple units, I presume the movement allowance of the stack is based upon the slowest unit?

Suggest using the Space Bar to move units from the top to the bottom of the column

When you clicjk in a hex the unit unit at the top of the column should always be the one selected.

Suggest: Hold down Shift and click on 2 units on the column to the right thereby selecting 2 units in the hex.

When you clicjk in a hex the unit unit at the top of the column should always be the one selected. NOT NECESSARY. THERE'S ONLY THREE UNITS, AND YOU SELECT THEM IN THE INFO PANEL TO THE RIGHT.

Suggest: Hold down Shift and click on 2 units on the column to the right thereby selecting 2 units in the hex. NO GO. SHIFT IS USED FOR SOMETHING ELSE.

Yes, really looking forward to this, being an old WiR fan.

But, stupid question I'm sure; can hex sides be turned off [&:]

The movement points remaining if you move to those hexes.

No. You can go much higher. We are also working on widescreen support now, but you should be able to do just about any resolution with 1024x768 as the minimum.

Hey. Some questions from an old War In Russia player:

- Will hex sides be possible to turn off?

- Will it be possible to run the game fullscreen?

- Will most commands in the game be possible using only the keyboard, like in the old WiR?

Otherwise looking great, and I have complete confidence the team will implement the "war" part of the game just excellent. [&o]

We plan on having two map art sets, one with hexes on, one with them off.

- Will it be possible to run the game fullscreen?

No, but you can resize the play window as you wish.

- Will most commands in the game be possible using only the keyboard, like in the old WiR?

No, in fact I can't think of any keyboard only inputs. Mouse is standard with tons of hotkeys.

Otherwise looking great, and I have complete confidence the team will implement the "war" part of the game just excellent. [&o]

Thanks for the answers Joel.

And, sorry for being vague, by "keyboard only" i guess I meant you arent forced to use the mouse to do stuff. "Tons of hotkeys" sounds just great [:D]

Too bad about the fullscreen - I find it breaks immersion for me to see the windows buttons. But maybe later eh? [8D]

Wow. This is a stunning looking game. I have never been so impatient for a game release. Oh, wait, I have been waiting for World In Flames for 50 years, but that's another story.
