This is superb! Great job, Think with the latest patch and 3 hotfixes, I am almost ready to start an Ironman!!
I will definitely have the spreadsheet open to assist. Though, of course the plans will be different.
Before deciding on the Ironman, wanted to find out just HOW much harder it is over the Base and 2nd Scenario. Thanks to WitP Tracker, am finishing up a comparison of the difference in Forces from Scenario 1 (Base Case), Scenario 2 (Hakko Ichiu - enhanced Japan) and Scenario 10 (Ironman - bad-ass Japan). Found a few data anomalies - will post those, those are mainly double-named units/ships - so no real "errors". Doing a Word document but can place in an Excel spreadsheet - loaded all the exported data into Access and did work in there.
Here's the just Fighter Aircraft Diffs:
Aircraft Type Base Hakko Ironman Iron-Dec41
=========================================
A6M2 Zero 249 357 478 +144
A5M4 Claude 171 174 189
Ki-27b Nate 518 518 493
Ki-43-Ia Oscar 24 24 49
Ki-43-Ib Oscar 32 80 80
=======================================
TOTALS 994 1153 1289 1433
The main diff for other planes is the Betty bumpup:
G4M1 Betty 157 277 277 +144
The biggest increase in ships is in DDs and Escorts, plus lots more Transports/Cargo. Think I may do the Ironman on Historical level of difficulty, and with all those new Escorts, may have to have Reliable USN Torps.

Hope you find it useful. Your garrison contributions to the original thread were the very first things to go into the spreadsheet (although they've since been modified since partisan action can longer damage industry). Some interesting observations on the differences between the Japanese starting forces in each scenario. I knew there was a big bump up in S-9, but was surprised to see that much of a delta between S-1 and S-2

Really glad to hear that - it's one of the main reasons I developed the spreadsheet! It'll probably be a while until the next release, but a few things you'll see in the next version (which means "go ahead and do this now!"):
1) Move most of the Chinese air units from Chengtu to Chunking (not enough Aviation Support in Chengtu, plus it's only a size 1 A/F)
2) Doublecheck the transports and cargo TFs that are traveling to small bases. Only amphibous TFs can drop supply or troops into a base with a Size-0 port. You can switch Cargo TFs to amphibious at sea or even at destination, but not so with transports (apparently because the Strat Move troop mode is "transport only")
3) Get an AGP on the way to Jolo on the very first turn (you'll need it to keep your PT TFs fully stocked with torpedoes for use in the Phillipines)

RE: Allies Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
I'm a newcomer to the world of WiTP-AE and this spreadsheet will be helpful in figuring out what to do on the 2nd day. It will definitely take a while to study and figure out all of the interconnections with this, but I suspect it will be worthwhile. Thanks for making this available.

One reason I took the time is because I undertand so well how intimidating AE is to a new player. And it's such a great game, that it was worth it to me to do something that might help folks get started on their long, slow, journey up the "learning cliff". Everytime I hear the words, "this will really help", it just makes all the effort worthwhile! [:)]
Enjoy the ride!

Plus those of us that have been here since the getgo WIP-UV-WITP needed some encouragement to get into this new game which is much more accurate but much more harder to start appreciate the effort[&o][&o][&o]
RE: Allies Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
I'm just starting my first full blown campaign and was fighting with all the Search Arcs, Airgroups, etc. (still haven't done anything with LCUs, TFs or supplies, etc.) when I discovered this fantastic spreadsheet! I also was glad to discover (being a totally n00b to this game) that some of the decisions I took were the same as you suggest [:)]
Thanks a lot for the work mate! [;)]

RE: Allies Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
Just a quick question as I'm afraid I've made a (yet another) mistake:
On Airgroup orders, when you say: ASW Patrol, Search: 20-60, Level: 50...
This Search arc is for ASW or for Naval Search? And the level refers to this Naval Search?

RE: Allies Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
Sorry I missed the question - hadn't been here for a few weeks. Anyway, I never assign ASW and Naval Search to the same units, so the description you cite means:
1) "ASW Patrol": Unit is on ASW, and all the descriptions that follow pertain to this mode
2) "Search: 20-60": The ASW Search arc for this unit
3) "Level: 50": My shorthand for the percentage of aircraft assigned to this mission
The only "mission sharing" I assign to aircraft is a combat mode of some sort plus training. In those cases you will see a "Level" listed for each mission type.
Edit: One major exception is Carrier Air. It's usually a good idea to have some of your Dauntlesses assigned to Naval Search (20% or so). The spreadsheet has several examples of this.

Thanks a lot for the spreadsheet, it greatly helped me in starting a full game for the first time. Just by implementing your moves you learn the game and it's mechanics. Manuals can only tell that much. December 21st now, and I'm actually playing with some sense of what I'm supposed to do. Still a terrifying piece of game though

As always, glad to be of assistance. And yes, it really IS scary the first time you sit down and have to put all your units into motion on Day 2!

curious if this app is up date with all the data base patches? guessing not, but may not make any difference...

Many thanks Kull for this just starting first full campaign. I was going to read the manual first but now I have this I wont. I believe in 'intuitiveness'!

If I even hinted that this spreadsheet was a replacement for the Manual, Alfred would remove my head with a rusty hacksaw! I highly recommend that you do take a few hours and go through the manual - this game will consume vast quantities of time, so it's well worth a few on the front end to save far more on the back. Do that KNOWING that there's a wealth of detail and it's impossible to retain all (or even most) of it. However, once you begin following the spreadsheet's recommendations, some of that reading will come back to you in the form of "Ah! I seee why he's doing that!" And you'll get even more once you start playing. If anything, that first read through really helps your intuition!
One caveat on the spreadsheet. Most of the recommendations are still good, but in the aspect of air unit training, ignore the spreadsheet percentages and set your units at 100% trainig, 0 Range. The results will come faster that way.

You would be lucky if I restricted myself to being so merciful as to use a hacksaw.
First you would be subjected to watching THAT movie in order to, ahem, learn the "true history" of what should have transpired. Only when you could repeat from memory every line of THAT movie from memory would we proceed to stage two.
Next you would be kept back at school to write out, in long hand, 100 times the entire AE manual. Any misspellings or inaccuracies would result in immediate decapitation using a fish knife.
Having successfully completed stage two, you would be required to compile the updated manual, incorporating all the changes introduced through the various patches. Once that was completed, your access to post in the forum would be reinstated.
