Watch out for US-Canada mail!

I'm assuming that you will be faster delivering my order than the Naval Institute Press is. I ordered some books on April16/02 and enquired about the lateness yesterday (ie. still no books). They said they mailed it via normal foreign service post and could take up to 16 frikken weeks. Guess they found a use for horses other than spoiling rich girls and racing.
I just received a letter mailed three weeks ago from someone in Ontario. It used to take 7-10 days. Now, since 9-11, three weeks. The other way takes nearly as long, so I hope you didn't choose the mail.

So what. You need to learn something that an Army major taught me back in the seventies: women come and go, but wargaming is forever.

Third-Party Distributer

Post by SeminaryRidge »

I preprodered my copy from Chips & Bits on Apr. 30th. Checking status with them yesterday. Customer Service said Uncommon Valor is due out around the third week of this month. That would mean it would not ship until Monday from them at the earliest. Can anyone from Matrix comment on status of orders from their third-party distributers at this point.

A forecast for all of us who are waiting for the game to get across the pond into Europe would be much appreciated as well :)

I'm in the same boat. I ordered on May 1, but it still says New. I can't get home till Saturday, so I don't mind if it doesn't come till then, but I wouldn't want to get home and not find it there.

Like Thantis' post reminded you of something an army Major taught you...your posts remind me of something an American Colonel said to a Canadian contractor buddy of mine responsible for building field heaters for the US military. He said, "Build 'em tough, cause if ya give a US soldier two ball bearings and lock him in a windowless, empty room, that soldier will lose one and break the other!"

You a Bud drinker and like Nascar, too?:D Just kidding!;)

"New" too

Who do I have to pay to get my order to ship today? Someone at Matrix need a nice, large turkey for Thanksgiving? Perhaps send a special Harry & David gift pack? Sigh...

I am told that all the "air" deleivery (overnight or foreign air) orders are on their way and we should have all the ground orders on their way by the end of the week.

Over half the products shipped are going over seas and becasue of the foresightedness of our shipping contractor, a customs offical went to the warhouse to pre-approve the (hundreds) of overseas orders.

All the distributor orders have gone out, C&B should have theirs by next week, though overseas distributors may take a bit longer.
The extra shipping step means distributers customers don't get theirs as fast as those who pre-order. We don't make as much either, but we understand the cost and convenience issue - a trade off of sorts we think is overall a win for all, even if you may have to wait an extra week or two....

We have also had our "classification" changed for customs purposes to hpefully reduce the chances that overseas customers get "surprise" duties and taxes. We obviously can't control teh rulings of individual foreign customs officials, but we are working closely withe the overseas shipping experts and US customs to ensure rapid and "surpriseless" shipping to the incredible number of overseas customers!! (especially Finland...why are there so many wargamers in Finland :D)

Thanks again for making us "the global grognard's friend" :)

Europe rules!

Post by U2 »

Hi!

Over 50% of the items is shipped outside the US!? Wow! I always thought it was something like 10% or less. Europe rules! Sorry that this does not show in the forums. But hey americans and canadians are much funnier anyway.

Finland!? Crap! I always thought Sweden was ahead in wargaming. Darn scandinavian neighbour.

Good luck Matrix and may you sell thousands of UV copies

When we sent packages with gifts to our relatives in Germany this year, they were in for a nasty surprise later when the customs office presented a bill. Since recently, even gifts, if they exceed Euro 45 worth, cost 17 Euro extra custom. I sometimes hate my home country.

Hi!

In Sweden everything over 30 US is taxed! Let me give you an expample of the fantastic:rolleyes: socialdemocracy that we call Sweden.

I ordered The Japanese Colonial Empire 1895-1945 for 32 bucks or something + 8 bucks shipping ( 40 ). Thats over 30 so I had to pay 25 swedish krona in tax which is not bad really for its about 2,5 bucks. But then I had to pay stupid handling fees to the customs and post office. So to pay for 25 krona I had to pay 125 krona ( 12,5 bucks ) and that includes the 2,5 bucks tax. So to pay 2,5 dollars I had to pay 10 dollars!! God bless socialism:rolleyes:

Keep in mind that the order status is updated in batches. Your order may have already been shipped, but the status will likely not display that until tonight.

Question

Post by Wasp »

Well, I preordered my copy the 1st of May. I reside here in the states, and for shipping I took the ( USPS Priority): $7.00 option.

Question, when can I expect to get my copy.
Another question: my tracking orders page still shows the Order status: New. I'm really confused. I do live fairly close compared to all the people overseas so, shouldn't I get my order much faster? I guess I'm just anxious to get my copy.:D
