From what I just read, there seemed to be some confusion between 'en guarde' and 'Right Guard!, and the appropriate usage of each!

I'll miss his contributions. I feel sort of bad. What he got banned for was a post in which he was trying to be supportive to me. Things got a little out of hand on that thread.

Regardless, he has a lot of knowledge insight and takes the time to review posts and offer corrections or additional information. Tjat's what I really like on this forum.
I have been inputting my orders for the campaign game first turn since July 4, 2009. I'm getting close. In another month or two, I might be able to run the turn!

If you have contact with John, please contact him and ask him to PM me. I will apologize to him if he feels that anything I have posted is offensive to him. What I wrote was a general observation, but if it has been taken as pointed at anyone, that was not the intention. I think John may know that, but know that you don't know that.

Further, having read that thread, it seems to me that there were a number of posts which crossed boundaries of civil discourse. When I read John's post, it did not seem to me to be that much, though it was pointedly critical (in the purest sense of what criticism really means) of one poster's style of forwarding his argument. Unless there was more I missed from John, I find myself at a loss to understand the one week ban, but that is not my purview. I would hope that there has been some communication of the thinking about this resolution to those involved.

I would also hope that we could return to the form of discourse that most of us who have been here for some time are accustomed to enjoying. I have mentioned this before, but it seems that such posts are not understood. Mere sarcasm, and vituperation, like voice volume, does not win arguments - it merely forwards antagonism. Such is not worthy of this board. We all have passionate feelings, and we need to reign them in for the simple reason that we are not arguing about the future of human civilization, the survival of our respective nations, nor our respective families, but about a GAME!!!!! We are passionate about our interests, but we should not allow ourselves to be passionate at the expense of others, yet that does happen. Even more troubling, is that the argument (again, in the purest sense of the word) is not conducted to find a resolution about which we can agree, but to see who can score the most points, and who can be 'right!' That is a poor excuse to get one's self banned from an internet forum - to prove we are right! Let's cool it so we don't stress the mods anymore, nor each other any more, let alone those who have worked very long and very diligently to provide the upgrade to this game we all love (or we wouldn't argue about it!) and perhaps, we can all learn - if nothing more than how to enjoy this game more thoroughly!

Shalom, y'all

He walked into the target reticle when the smart bomb was already on its way. It relates to what Napoleon said (in French): "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

He is mad because he did nothing. He believe in this game and worked so hard to make it work. There are ugly people whou say ugly things in a ugly way and all jwe did was quote shakespear to help a friend. And matrix banned him just like the ugly person. He talks in a hard way but he is not mean other people are mean and ugly. And when matrix banns him for saying simple truth without pointing a finger what does that tell the rest of us who works on this game.

I am mad too because matrix wants the development people to speak like wimps and everybody else can be as ugly as they want to be and that is wrong. I am going to maybe get banned for saying this but this is okay. If they want to bandon the truth then okay. I only post to help my friend so I do not care what anybody does to me.

MO, if the man is gone, you must maintain. Honor does not require seppuku. Honor requires duty and efficient performance. You are a good troop, pal. Keep it going for JWE's sake and remember, you may be a puke Civ, but you are our puke Civ.

Or, as a judge once told me when I was desperately trying to butt in to make a point in favor of my client: "Never interrupt a judge when he is explaining why he is about to rule in your client's favor."

He was only banned on the 2nd and this is only the 6th (or 7th depending on where you live). His time in the "hole" isn't up. Let's hope he comes back and just avoids the obvious tries at trying to drag him into the mine fields.
