How to upgrade units to George???

That won't help me with campaign in progress... I'll need to restart ,and I don't want to do that....

Does it really have to mean you need to restart?

It is admittedly VERY annoying but you have (non CV) squads that work fine with George.
You just need to find a fitting upgrade for your CV squads.

I don't want to upgrade CV groups to George. Just land based ones. E.g. Tainan daitai and others. And I have only 2 non CV groups that upgrade to N1K1. And most of my industry is modified to pump out large numbers of N1K1s with A6M5s cut down to only 2o per month (only for carriers). And I don't have supplies any more to afford another large scale retooling. And that is very frustrating situation! [:(]

If it´s an AI game I would just start over. If it´s a PBEM that has gone already that far, perhaps you could ask one of the devs to look at it for you. AFAIK those guys are able to change the db of ongoing games. Worth a try I guess.

No, it is not PBEM. Hardly got time to play vs. AI few times a week. Don't want to restart, but it's unplayable like this... just don't have enough navy planes to fight... except N1K1s which I can not use...

Can the code be changed during play?  Ie. Can both players in a PBEM install a "mod" after the game has started ?

No. It is GC #2 with the addition of 3 training groups (from '41) for Japanese player. And that is the only modification...

So it is a modded scenario. You can edit the upgrade paths of aircraft through the editor and update the game.

Find the squadrons that you want to upgrade in your editor and change there upgrade path then save. Load the scenario it will inform you that the game data has changed and if you want to continue press y and you have the george.

Thanks, I'll try that. But I think that scenario changes do not affect games in progress....

Yes in AE you can change non original scenarios with the editor. Just change a few of the squadrons you want to upgrade and save the game will accept it.
Try it you have nothing to lose.

Open the editor, go to aircraft find a6m2 on top there is upgrades to :  click there and make it George. Save, start the game , update the game , now all squadrons with a6m2 will upgrade to george. convert the squadrons you want save. go back to editor and rearrange as before, so as not to ruin your game. if you need any more help pm me.

Luckily I only produced 100 or so Jacks and Georges before realising that hardly any sqds can upgrade to them. Seems to make them pointless in the game.

Here is the report- Nothing worked untill I changed N1K1 to be carrier capable. And then, every zero group is upgradable to George! Many thanks for the tips, Che, my campaign is now saved [&o]

Remember to change the squadrons you want and then return the upgrade to normal or you will have problems

Very interesting. So if I have created a mod based upon Scen 1 and saved it as Scen 31, then I should be able to mod during play, correct? This is BIG news.
