There were, even on Guadalcanal. It wasn't like Europe at all. Most movies/TV series do give the impression that there were none, which is where accuracy could probably be improved some.

The single biggest problem with the show I have had, is the poor character development. I am just now starting to "get to know" these guys. In BoB, you knew a lot of the guys pretty well from the episodes depicting their training. I wish they had spent more time on their lives before Peal Harbor. Also, looking on the HBO site, Peleliu is going to get three episodes, while Iwo-Jima and Okinawa will get just one each....I was kind of flabbergasted at that decision. I will admit, the show has me hooked and it seems just as soon as I start watching it, it is over and I want more.
