where is the patch

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

No real CTD issues here beyond those that have been noted and fixed in the bugfix thread. I'd heartily recommend the game to anyone.

Same here!

Personally, I find it strange that some of us are having so many CTD and/or gameplay problems whilst others are relatively unscathed. I freely admit that I'm not an expert in this area but I am curious........
If some knowledgeable fellow player would care to give me the "dumbies" version I'm all ears (so to speak).

So we're at war with the Russkies eh?? I suppose we really ought to invade or something. (Lonnnng pause while studying the map)

I would suspect the software was coded and tested in a limited number of hardware configurations. Several users deviate from this (despite passing within the minium specs) and caused problems.

Or the players are playing the game in a way that it was not designed to do (GUI, key presses, non-conventional strategy).

From what I have read on the Postings so far, the CTDs are not OS specific and the bugs appear to be playability issues. Those who haven't run into the CTDs are playing the game differently than those who crashing. Why? Beats me!!

Since Panther has been able to verify the defects and correct them, it doesn't appear to be a system configuration issue either since they can duplicate the problems readily to fix them.

If you read some of the posts from the testers, you will also see that they did not test for some of the bugs that have been found, which is why we found them and they didn't. So, I would chalk it up to the following:

a) They probably released the game before it was tested as thoroughly as they would like. Probably came down to scheduling and monetary issues.
b) The game engine is not well understood by some of the testers, which makes testing the game more difficult.
c) The game is complex and they may not have enough automated tests to provide good code coverage when they make changes
d) It's a complex piece of software and it's challenging to test it as thoroughly as they would like to.
e) They need more gameplay testers like us.

I noticed that they posted a request for more testers. I applaud them for making this request, the question is will anyone volunteer to do this for free.
I'm willing to beta test for a free version of the software, but I doubt I'll provide free testing other than to buy the game and report bugs online (aka free testing), but I also get to complain too.

I'm a software engineer by trade, I know how difficult it is to build software and test it. Game producers have their work cut out for them, but then again, if you get into this business and you want to make money, then you need to figure it out because more and more people are holding onto their hard earned dollars these days and only the very best games are going to be purchased.

I'll be back

I also, to conclude look forward to a more rational reduction of the price of this product in light of the issues that currently plague it.

LOL! Thanks for my morning chuckle![:D]

bretg80, I think you nailed it.
I have not had a ctd but then I haven't yet used the timed orders feature except for durations (for fire or bombardment orders).  I have not read all the ctd posts but I think that's where one of the bugs occurs.  I was thinking of testing it out last night but didn't ...  maybe I should just to test and see if I get a ctd too.
