With the last turn of night, we tried to dislodge a few pieces. Unfortunately nothing would budge.

It is amazing how much better attacks seem to be carried out both during daylight hours, and clear weather.  We achieved total victory in our two targeted hexes.  Elsewhere to the north we dropped an artillery barrage against a couple armored infantry companies.  That didn’t seem to achieve much, but it does not matter at this moment.

Currently we have captured all objectives, so even losing one of them back should still allow us to contain a decisive victory over the enemy.  Our job seems done, now we just have to dig in until 10 am.

Not much progress from either side happened after 8 am.  The only noticeable event was Jerry forced one of our companies from the parachute regiment into a retreat.  This was all superficial though, as no serious harm was ever done, and before the turn was up we moved it back into the front again.

We had finally made it.  The final turn. Our troops were well dug in, and we just sat there smoking cigarettes while shooting off the last artillery barrage.  The axis failed to dislodge us from our objectives, and it would have required a miracle, as they would have needed to remove us from two key spots just to deny us a decisive.

This scenario has taught me well in the future not to take elements such as the weather, or troop quality, etc. for granted.
