I am more than happy to be "used" as a learning tool of a PBEM;)
Drop me a line when you are ready.

I used vortigen for UV. Took about a week from the time I ordered.

The Wargamer posted a "Uncommon Valor: Campaign for the South Pacific", stating "Uncommon Valor is a spectacular operational level wargame that provides players with an unparalleled level of depth"

Pelit -magazine 8/2002 gives UV 92/100 points

Post by Tuomas Seijavuori »

Finnish Pelit -magazine gives UV 92/100 points in its four page review (!). English summary says:

"Uncommon Valor (Matrix Games/2by3 Games) Back to the old not-so-good days when men were made of steel and strategy games were only for hardcore players. Unfortunately, today strategy games are much easier to play. Matrix shows uncommon valor while publishing this hc-strategists' dream-come-true.

Points for strategists: 92 (out of 100)
For human beings: 80"

Don't ask why they think it's unfortunate that games are easier to use these days... probably just a mistake.

Hi,

is there a link or is it "just" a magazine review. I went to their website but my finish is a bit rusty ;)

Both. But the online version of the review is for subscribers only. Log in and you will able to read it online too. If I'll be having an exceptionally boring day today, I may translate a couple of short quotes in the spirit of "fair use".

Computer Games review 4 out 5 Stars

Post by Marc von Martial »

4 out 5 Stars from Computer Games Magazine

Computer Games magazine (September issue) reviewed Uncommon Valor. Tom Chick gave it a 4 out of 5 stars and wrote the following

"There aren't many wargames that model combat on sea, under sea, on land, and in the air. And until now, there weren't any that did it with this smoothly, presenting the sweep of the war in the Pacific with such detail. With Uncommon Valor, 2by3 Games has created what is easily the most polished, intelligent, and satisfying wargame since Combat Mission."

About a month old, but I just stumbled upon it and I did not notice it here...

Note that the list is in no particular order (thus UV is on the bottom).

Very weird. The title for the review is 'Uncommon Valor: War In The Pacific, The Struggle Against Japan 1941-1945' and screen shots are I believe from 'War in the Pacific' but the review itself is about 'Uncommon Valor: Campaign for the South Pacific'

A new UV Review is online at The Wargamer : http://www.wargamer.com/reviews/uncommon%5Fvalour/

Since they already reviewed UV about one year ago, this new review is focused on the changes brought by all the patches

PC Zone here in the UK gave it only 61%. The ar*eholes! From what I gather they didn't get into it because it was too complicated. Guess that's what happens when you give a computer game to a chimp to review...
Teach thy necessity to reason thus:
There is no virtue like necessity.
Richard II, Act I, Sc. 3.

Cowards die many times before their deaths,
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Julius Caesar, Act II, Sc. 2.
