This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

im thru 1.5 turns and have minsk and pretty much a draw. Its a 3 turn game so rail lines be damned, I mean your combat units are topped off and loaded to 120%, some even more. I pretty much have all the vps but the 2 against the E side of the map and another 100 pointer somewhere-i need those to get the win. Not sure if I can do it but I spent the first turn F'in around with admin points, breakin stuff down, xfer stuff, putting some stuff in rail to move a few hexes, just to get a feel for the game. I think the 2nd time I try this, Itll be cake-but a good human player would still smoke me-I have no idea what Im doing regarding airbases, Ive moved them pretty far forward for 2 turns now (prolly not a good idea)- I assume airbases get whacked just like an HQ unless its occupied with a combat unit-now will a brigade suffice to prevent the auto wack?

Better this time - all objectives taken.

A few things though - supply routes were an issue because of driving forward (lucky this was a small scenario) and also I played it on Easy and it was only just all objectives taken. A half decent human op would've crushed my drive as in this scenario, you have no time to think of your flanks

If you get a decisive victory as Germans in this scenario, how does it correlate to how it might have looked if you were playing the Grand Campaign game?

I just played the first 3 turns of the GC. And I'm unable to reproduce the same results. I don't know if it is because I planned differently, or what. I was close, but not quite.

When this one gets easy, try Smolensk. Its like Minsk, same starting position but the Germans have to keep going east to Smolensk. The map goes all the way to Moscow and the Germans can get 1000 points if they hold it at the end!

Its 10 turns long. I played once on normal as the Ruskies. I pulled back to the Dnepr and whatever the other major river north of there is and ended up in an epic slugfest with the Germans to hold the line. At one point, I was 3 units thick all the way from the North to the South of the playable area.

I built my own mini-Maginot line in front of Smolensk and ended up holding off the Germans from all but 2 objectives for a decisive vic. Quite tense though and the AI really exploited a couple of breakthroughs quite well.

Holy, crap! I lost 700,000 men! What a bloodbath.
