Personally I just ignore them
I'm fortunate to be apart of a group that is mostly made up of serving and ex-military (and those who aren't are usually RL friends or family of a few of us)

Best way to play really, my guild was made up of all people my age or older. We played to have fun, not to compete...that makes a huge difference.
