The battered Marine landing force hits the beaches and begins to dig in.

In "The Middle" airborne troopers drive off an engineer unit and trade harassing fire with Japanese infantry assembling on the ridge to the east.

Spirit of the Samurai now has 19 kills. The smoke is so thick around my other guns, that I am firing into the smoke with 'Z', and killing dozens of attackers that I can't even see with the blasts!

Another fully loaded LST has been sunk. An M4 105 CS tank is a hollow shell from a 152mm hit. Several LVT4's were blasted on the beach, killing infantry in surrounding hexes too. Any flame tanks I see are priorities, and I have sunk quite a few.

For all this, the Americans are ashore, in force! Not for long! BANNNNNNZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAI!!!!!

Thats the five Jap warfaces of death!

Aye! I can't send you the wonderful turn I had against your Panthers. :D

I think I might have scared M4 off by accepting his one-on-one challenge.

Back to the game.

"Yeah, I can see it! Right over the edge of that ridge"
"Alright 'Wheels', move us forward"

The Sherman lumbered forward a few meters, slowly rotating it's turret to zero in on the flaming mouth of the Jap cave. As the the M4A1 Flame backed away from the cave, the Shermans gunner put a 76mm round right into it's smoky mouth. The remaining crew was methodically gunned down as they came out of the debris of the cave.

The southern coastal gun that was indirect firing with such effect, got his vision range severely shortened by a passing Ranger with smoke grenades. Indirect fire THIS!

"A couple of coastal guns and a few caves, this is gonna be a lot easier than they said."

"I'm tellin' ya, the Japs, they don't want nobody on their islands. They say they'll all fight to the dea... Shhhh, did you hear that?"

The two privates on point paused, crouched and slowly moved forward. Then, suddenly, the small forest they'd entered erupted with the screams of 'BANZAI!', 'KIAI!!' and 'Sionara, Sucker'. Four foot tall Goblins charged at the two privates from every direction. The ceramic grenades startled Pvt Johnson long enough to be skewered through with a bamboo spear wielded by a 4'3" octogenarian. Ugh!

The Ranger platoon then fell back ... right onto an enemy cave.

1 Lt Bryan, in his bright new Chaffee saw part of that exchange and decide that Japanese militia would be no match for their fine tank. Weaving between minefields and the heavier Shermans, Bryan moved his Chaffee forward in pursuit of the retreating Militia.

Then, in a poorly executed maneuver, he managed to allow himself to be flanked by a heretofore unseen Ka-mi tank. One 37mm AP round later, 1 Lt Bryan is without his shiny new ride and popping smoke as fast as he can. I have got to be a lot more careful with my armor. :(

The still wet Rangers are dashing across the north coast of Big Island. A coastal gun is taking it's toll on support LC covering the race across Chiba Bay.

A couple of other things are happening, but Japanese radio interceptors might pickup on things they cannot see. :p

What this scenario needs is a Sherman with a loudspeaker.

"Drop your spears and come forward with your hands up. We'll give you sunglasses. You're gonna need 'em"

"Hirohito does uncouth things with children and small animals. Really!"

"Free army boots for the first five thousand who surrender"

"Your momma wears army boots!"

"wait a minute, who write this stuff."

"Shh, you're still broadcasting."

"Wha'? turn that switch off. That one. No the one to the left. Your other left!"

What a dumb idea.

Things are heating up in "The Middle". Airborne troops pin assembling Japanese infantry with mortar and machine gun fire. SBD bombers strafe a column of advancing tanks and armored cars, destroying a 97b Te-Ke tank. A bazooka squad nails another Te-Ke and rifle fire destroys an engineer squad and a group of tank hunters.

The Marines on the beach regroup and begin to crawl inland, rallied by the sight of C-47 transports soaring overhead towing Hamilcar gliders.
