My tactic is to get up very early so I can have quiet time and not flaunt my addiction in front of my wife's face. Overall though, she is like many others already have mentioned - just happy I am at home and not out drinkin', smokin' and whorein' around.

Mine seems to have accepted my plight. She does recall the days before WiTP when I spent much more $ on computer games than I have the last 5 years. Also, with new games comes the new excitement and many 3am nights. She doesn't have to contend with those any longer-this is a more 'mature' addiction. [:D]

Wasn't it crsutton that summarized his 'but honey' points a few months ago? That was classic.

My wife is happy that I am not out at some bar/pool playing joint, etc. She is ok with it [:)]

Damn, I haven't gone out to bars for at least 10 years so this one won't work for me.

But who says I can't develop a craving for those good old glory days and start up again?

I have learned to play the game with the sound off. No need to wave a red cape in front of the bull.....

Im interested in how you get the sound off. I have examined my wife throughly and have found no off button.

I feel for you guys. Never been married, never cranked up a computer game when I had a gal over. Doesn't fit the dashing bachelor image I try to cultivate. [;)]

My Filipina wife can, by way of her close relatives, relate personally to the War. I pass along to her books about the Pacific War, and she reads them happily. Aside from that, she understands that I'm an IT professional and computer geek, and accepts whatever I do on the computer, including PC war gaming. It helps, too, that -- with eight computers around the house -- we are all computer- and Internet-centric (we don't watch TV, don't go out much, except for concerts). All in all, in this regard, my wife is no problem. Dang, I'm a lucky guy.

I have played the orginal game got to almost 43. Then got married, changed jobs (self employed) and never really had the time to put into AE. Recently, sold my biz, now unemployed and enjoying taking this game on again.
Having said all that, I am looking for a job (its been less then 2 weeks unemployed) so when my wife gets home and of course I am sitting here on the computer, I now get THE LOOK. [:-]
Sorry hunny, didn't see anything today. LOL [:'(]

I'm sure the advantages of being married surely outweigh the drawbacks, but when I read this threads I always think "Thank God I never got married".

Yea Ive mastered the art of being able to piss off the old lady when she goes on a rant or is telling some extremely boring story like most women she can talk for hours about completely nothing[:D] I will hold the remote in my hand pushing the hellout of the mute button or here lately ive started doing the Archie Bunker pantomime about loading the gun and shooting himself!!!

My wife retired out of the USAF Reserve as Major in Intel. She is OK with it, the computer is in the living room and WITP:AE saves my brain from being eroded by home remodeling shows and "reality" TV.

If you are single you may comprehend this but to truly understand it you have to be married!

My wife thinks that I'm wasting my time playing 2 PBEMs and the writing an AAR.  I've got actually got 3 PBEMs and an AAR going.  She doesn't try to stop me though and she sits next to me in our office at her computer or watches TV elsewhere.  It's not a hobby, it's a way of life.
Todd

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Which, of course, is not wasting her time! [:D] [;)]
