By the way, how close does your highest HQ (Stavka/OKH) have to be to a subordinate to transfer for free?
I've always spent the AP.  This is a well-kept secret, apparently! Give me the formula for free transfer!

It's the usual transfer list max count, not distance. The closest 18 (?) HQs are listed. Note that I have never been able to transfer to a combat unit for free.

Just grab the Support Unit from the list and use the usual change HQ procedure. If you are lucky, the right HQ will be listed.

It's also a pain since the natural process is to open the HQ, determine what is needed, then go get it. Here you select an SU and then figure out where to put it which is backwards to my head [8D]
