I believe the BSG stations are photoshop modifications of BSG bases found in various sources on the net.

Correct. In fact, all of the BSG bases are made out of one picture. The record for now is the quarian shipset, which I made out of a single pic of a quarian frigate from ME2.
The cylon bases, if I remeber correctly, I found in a star wars mod for space empires 4 (or 5). I cut the background out and converted the image into png format. One of the first pics I made for DW.
I updated the first post with GUNDAM shipset. There were plenty of robots too (or mecha? ) but I used them only for fighters and bombers.

Well as I plan on making a B5 mod because its simply too good a series and subject to not have a Legends mod. Also,it happens to be the mod I really want to play. In any event please let me know if you see any reasonable B5 ship images,if it would make your cut it will be good. The main problem that I see regarding ship images comes with there being so few top down views,is there a reasonable program where you can generate a 3D image from an oblique reference image? Then grab a top down view off the 3D image?

I am fairly certain the ships there were decent. Also you might check out other games like Sins of Solar Empire for similar mods. You'll need to spend some time on converting the ships to DW but you can do it with cutting from screenshots, without using any 'complicated' software.
