Ah, so you will simply have to - as a professional matter having to do with your research - you will simply have to break down and buy some of those recent works which you haven't yet read. [:D]

Books, Books, Books!

Come on - I don't know which you've read! I've read a few of the outstanding books that people here have talked about here and can heartily recommend them and some others:

The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors - Hornfischer

Shattered Sword - Parshall & Tully

Guadalcanal - Frank

D-Day - Beevor

Stalingrad - Beevor

Breakout - The Chosin Reservoir Campaign - Russ

The Allied CVTFs head north from Brisbane to provide cover for PM. The KB++ was operating off Tulagi, so it's out of interception range. Two ASW groups are detached, one to cover a support convoy headed towards Darwin and the other to suppress a known Japanese sub.

No major actions. Japanese fighter sweep at Rabaul encounters heavy opposition and loses two fighters.

An AMc cleaning up a submarine minefield near Rabaul runs into the submarine and is sunk. Much activity of patrol craft and search aircraft based at Rabaul ensues. The sub dies, too.

Quiet. Attached is a map of the current strategic situation. We're engaged in the southern Philippines, central China, along the India/Burma border, and in the PNG/Solomons area. I still hold significant areas in the DEI.

Landings continue at Cagayan. Air battles over Port Moresby. The KB shows up south of New Guinea, probably escorting a divisional landing planned for Port Moresby. My CVTFs are well away. B-17E sweeps kill some Zeros.

A Chinese corps enters Nanyang, behind the Japanese forces on the Sian road.

My opponent accidentally sent me a replay for the upcoming turn (June 20) instead of the current turn (June 19). I didn't know you could do this. It seems to give the Japanese player the ability of testing out plans (assuming his opponent doesn't change anything). Is this the case?

Certainly not! The replay happens upon the IJ player getting back the Allied player's orders. If he has your password, I suppose he could (without looking at your dispositions) do a 'null orders' turn for you to see how his orders (sans yours) worked out.
