Panzer Corps vs PGF

Fans of the old Panzer General series rejoice for the release of Panzer Corps. Following in the footsteps of the popular SSI masterpiece and sharing with the General series the same level of engagement and strategic depth, Panzer Corps will keep an unmistakable "PG feeling" whilst improving and refining the gameplay and balance. Panzer Corps will feature 26 scenarios on 21 unique maps, covering most major battles of the European Theatre of World War II and including a few hypothetical 'what if' scenarios based on your actions. Now expanded with a full-war mega-campaign and the Afrika Corps and Allied Corps releases!

How dare you accuse me of anything associated with a lawyer. [:-]

I agree with your enthusiasm for this game, which now means that you are associated with a lawyer

Try living with yourself now, Yankee

Having read the manual, I could not see anything around restrictions to unit purchases i.e. what is there to stop a player from buying an all Tigers?[&:]

Not having enough prestige points to buy. Tanks are not cheap.
It's more or less like in reality, or you've the resources or not.

In the original PG1 and PG2 you would typically end up with all best of breed units with 5 stars. I remember stomping the DDay landings with a 5 star Tiger (Tiger II?) tank. In user mods and campaigns done in last some years for PG2 this was fixed so that while everything was in principle available the really nice gear was disproportionately expensive (rightly so). So you could have the super mean stuff but only a small set or have to settle for a more mainstream force to have enough units. The latter is a much nicer "realistic" outcome IMHO. I find I buy a mix.. maybe a very high quality unit to get the first heavy hitting done and then more mundane units to finish up. I believe the designer stated he wanted to build the cost structure of units in a similar fashion to these user designed campaigns and "equipment files" (that specify units specs and costs). So that will be good IMHO Nice trade off decisions.

Besides, try capturing cities and fortified targets with just tanks...good luck with that!

And besides that, you can always use the failsafe method of just surrounding those elite units and run them out of ammo! He's still got to shoot at the most inexpensive enemy unit.

The costs in Panzer Corps are pretty well balanced. I think most players, even those with a lot of similar gaming experience, will find the default "Colonel" level fairly challenging and you will have to earn those upgrades. Turn the difficulty down a notch if you want more prestige and a easier upgrades, or turn it up if you are a master player. There are five difficulty levels to choose from, plus more that can be unlocked on the high end if you are just that good. [8D]
