Dave...about the coming patch...

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Hi all,

There was also some discussion earlier about invoking orders delay (or a reduced version thereof) when a player moves existing waypoints. It may also have applied to creating new intermediate ones as well..........can't find the relevant thread.

Has this made the patch??

Rob.
So we're at war with the Russkies eh?? I suppose we really ought to invade or something. (Lonnnng pause while studying the map)

If I may (I'm a betatester) ...

The answer is: yes, in the forthcoming patch there will be these order delays when you make changes in some order settings or waypoints.

I think its been mentioned that smaller units such as AT are being moved in to the parent unit? One thing I have noticed is that these small unit seem able to move/attack in to contact with much larger units. I dont think this is right unless its an ambush :) A towed AT unit would take be extremely vulnerable during set up same for mortar tubes. They should have a deployment penalty and if merged in to their larger parent unit the same should apply to their combat affect? I notice arty units including self propelled have a penchant for moving in to contact with the enemy as well. Again this should be limited. I found in several scenarios small mortar or AT units were able to hold and slow or even stop armoured thrusts and of course reveal my positions to arty. Not something they should be able to do. Its highly unlikely that the radios of the time would reach over such terrain and as we know the frequencies and codes change on a daily basis so they should be out of contact with their parent unit fairly quickly. There should be a huge time delay for their spotting for the message to get up the chain of command?

Hi all,

Just a short SITREP. In an effort to reduce the number of cases where a HQ and support units lead the charge ( ie advance towards the enemy without line units in front ) I have opted to restrict the composition of those assigned to the final reorg of attacks to those in the assault group. HQs and arty now saty back in the reserve loc. This has of necessity meant a fair bit of overhaul work to the scheduling code. I have most of it finished but am still working my way through some down stream effects. I hope to wrap these up in the next few days.

Great news Dave. One other thing I spotted is that attached Arty units relocate with the HQ - backwards. This can mean that 81mm mortars are out of range of the Bn or Regt units. Can you ensure that the integral Bn or Regt arty remains within bombardment range of the units? Not a big issue. I reposition manually. Good news on patch. Happy to wait :)

starbuck310,

For what missions do you see this ocuring? For attacks there is code that checks the range and commits short range support units like moratars and IGs to the assault and then drops them off once they get within range.
