If more than 1/2 of the stack fails, on average, both fail rolls, you get Leaders(-).  If more than 1/2, on average, pass, you get Leaders(+).  On top of that, fog of war is thrown into the mix.

When you say fog of war is thrown into the mix, does that mean that if you're the Allied player, you might see the Japanese get a modifier when they really didn't, or even both sides have unreliable reports?

I only ask because I've seen results where the Japanese Ai gets both a (+) and a (-) modifier at the same time. What do I conclude from that? Only one of them could have been 'true', right?

Went back to the code again. You can get both + and - because there are conditions which can lower the AV due to a leadership check failing and others that raise it due to a pass. There are some rare conditions where both can happen, though it's usually one of the other or neither.

I did notice a bug in the way this information is displayed which means you see the leadership +/- less often than you should.

Most of the time when you get leadership + and -, it's probably due to fog of war and it happens to both sides, I believe even your own.

Gentlemen,

These are NOT the Combat Reports you are looking for. Move along now!!!

Well, that's that settled then.
