At least most of the All Blacks play fair, not like little jonny who needed a fresh football to kick at goal, seriously should have been penalised!

As a Kiwi I can't say I see how it could be considered an offensive term. Its more informal than anything but I think you'll generally find most Kiwi's are fairly relaxed about things like that.
As for "The beehive" i'm not sure if it qualifies as a nickname anymore, I don't think i've ever heard it called anything else.

've been reading these rather good mysteries by Oz author Peter Temple, in which Tasmania is "pointy land" & Tasmanians are "pointyheads".

is this derogatory? what's the derivation?

Never heard of a pointy, maybe because most Tasmanians have 2 heads, or the scar where the second one was.

Well thanks all. Didn't think it was considered offensive or in bad taste but I did let the term slip and got a funny look from the New Zealand woman to whom I was referring.
