Dont be discouraged by home much Japan can take early on. They can move further, unload faster, and have better air coordination than you do in the early stages of the war.
It is nice to pick off a few landing forces like you have done. Bright spots in a usually dark time..

Life is tough. The sooner you realize that, the easier it will be.

I think the dark time just begin...You'll see. The whole India and SOPAC campaign.

With scenario 2, you should just accept that they can take all of the historical territory taken by Japan, and then some more where their major push (or two) is at..
Life is tough. The sooner you realize that, the easier it will be.

After Sumatra was occupied and oil and refinery facilities merely damaged in Palembang, Japanese imperialists started to aim at Java.
Today Championzhao send a major sweep to Bandoeng where I kept lots of my fighters at, and this is the first time I learned in AE that sweep has a bonus over CAP. And the A2A result is really shocking. I lost some 50 fighters and against 7 on Jap's side.

Championzhao brought the whole combined fleet to the Java Campaign! KB, miniKB and all surface ships!
The landing was done swiftly without hesitate, the Java island was cut to half by his landing at Semarang.
Even Combined Fleet HQ participated in the amphibious attack!
Our air counterattack goes out uncoordinated and all lost to the superior CAP. we lost hundreds of planes in the week without achieving much thing significant.

I use Patrol planes to pull out about 20,000 men from Singapore deathtrap and deployed Dutch and Malaya army at Bandoeng in Java. This place is Mountain Terrain and over 80,000 tons of supplies. Best stronghold I can find in Java. Hoping that it take Japanese a month or more to conquer this place and thus buy sometime for the Allied.
We also lost Batavia and Kendari today.

We also lost Batavia and Kendari today.

hades1001,
I too am in mid 1943 (July) in a PBEM and am finding it a very exciting time. I look forward to reading your AAR.
Will your IJ opponent be putting one together from his perspective? As that is my traditional focus, I'd appreciate that as well.
Good luck!

Chickenboy, welcome aboard
Unfortunately my opponent won't because he doesn't handle English very well. As a non English speaker my English sucks too but at least I can write a little:)
To put it simple, I'm facing a similar situation as GJ had back in 43 but mine is even worse.
So it would be very interesting and challenging to continue the game.
Please jumping in time to time and you advice will be well appreciated.

With the first failed attack at Bandoneng, my opponent didn't try another one. Instead he pull out most of his troops and maneuvered to surrounded Bandoney, so my troops can't move anywhere and Bandoeng become a giant POW for 50,000 Allied troops....
It's a very smart move. He use the troop to take the rest of Java, which is undefended. And then continue his attack on other places.

Japanese invaded India. They took Colombo first then Calicut then Mangalore. It's so early that I barely have and resources to defend my self. During my lack of experience I didn't bring man US air groups to India and I brought most assets from DEI to Australia.
My 3 carriers made a try to intercept Japanese convoys but was spotted 1 day earlier, and KB is nearby so I chose to retreat.
I borrowed a few pic from my opponent and hope you won't get confused by the language.
