I'll be interested to hear your conclusions about the weak Southern strategy.If only the game engine didn't allow for massive and rapid redeployment of Soviet forces it would probably be a very viable strategy.

AGN post Axis moves. The Velikaya is crossed. Pskov will either be encircled or taken next week all being well. Recon indicates few troops further north except immediately around LG.

AGC Overview - Pushed forward into the landbridge. Walloc has placed his units in good defensive terrain (good for him). Will aim to push further through landbridge next week and potentially create a pocket if he stays put with 2nd PzGp.

I'd keep pushing east with 3rd panzer group and get a foothold across the Dnepr just west of Smolensk where it is a minor river. I think if you do that you will unhinge his entire defensive line on the Dnepr.....

No more MP's to do that this turn. Next turn (as I see it) Walloc has a choice. Either run or stay in place. If he stays in place I'll try to pocket the Dnepr guys. If he falls back I take the ground easy and move on. I just can't wait for my Landsers to catch up. Many people think of the Panzers but it's the Landsers that batter and open the doors to make the success happen.

Losses. Many of my relatively high AFV losses were due to wear and tear of the dramatic advances in AGS.

OOB. Spending my AP's on re-assigning SU's as many Corps have oodles of them and several start with 0. I always try to get a balance of Artillery, Flak (always at least 1 light and 1 x 88MM Flak Bn), Pioneer and Construction. Ideally also a Stug Bn/Jpz as well.

For the first turn opening I'm sending some of AGC panzers south, then on turn 2 I take some of the unfrozen AGS panzers and give them back to AGC. I don't need all those panzers in the center on turn 1.

For the SU reassignements.
I'm thinking about moving the construction batalions from corps level to the armies so that they van help with repairing rail.
You don't need to do a lot of digging in the first few turns anyway.

I don't know if it's a good idea though....

I'd say the SU Construction Bn's movement is not worth it from Corps to Army level. For 2 reasons.

1.) The AP's can be spent on better use of assigning combat SU's to other Corps.

2.) The Armies have enough Constructions SU's to fulfil the necessary rail conversion in addition to FBD's.

As a final con (IMO) you then want the Const. Bn's back at Corps level in winter to help digging = more AP use.

This is the standard move now for most Russians in the south, which was 1 of 2 things that could happen down here. Post#13

The up side is you can get to rivers quickly and mybee capture the standard 45ish armament pts.

Now the down side is the river will not be so easy to cross if SHC chooses to fight hard OR if hes smart he will move 12 to 15 divisions up in ffront of Moscow or Leningrad.

You will be able to cross rivers after he done evacing out industry.

You have all your marbles in the Moscow or bust basket for the 41 summer and mybee so does he.

AGC -

I agree Pelton in that runaway down south offers opportunities for both sides depending on how they react and play. Walloc appears to be railing out Armaments at the expense of other stuff. So far I've taken the Minsk industry and locked in Mogilev's and Kirovograd's HI.

The toughest sector and part of a turn this game I've had so far in AGC. MP's were low (11-18 for each Panzer/Mtr Div). This was mainly due to the distance from active rail and the need to finish off enemy in the rear. As such I had a tough choice to make. I would have liked to storm the Dnepr and create a pocket. I just didn't have the MP's to even remotely attempt anything like that. As such I reinforced the surge into the Landbridge whilst the infantry edged up to the Dnepr. Not happy with the situation here. I hope to have more MP's next turn to either turn south and cut off forces in the Dnepr bend (have kept back XXXXVI Pz Kps west of Mogilev for this opportunity) or if needed continue east to stretch Walloc.
