Release Date

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Hi guys,

We have not yet announced an official release date, but I can tell you that the game is very solid. We are largely focused on polish work at this point. The critical path for the release looks to be the printed manual rather than any additional development. We're waiting for word from the printer at this point as to when the printed manual will be in our warehouses before announcing the final release date. Once that's announced, I don't expect it to change. We're looking at a few weeks in terms of timeframe, no more than month I'd say.

Regards,

- Erik

Mid April?! Whatever, still waiting. Anyone heard about that other tactical WWII game, Heroes of Stalingrad, like if they ever get released or dropped?

Oh latest news from Erik Rutins (a few days ago ) concerning HoS is that things are moving along nicely, they are still working on it rest assured.

So what has the digital version to do with a printed hard copy manual. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the manual is finished what is the harm in releasing the game online with a delay obviously for the hard copy of COH?

Hi Erik,
I don't know if you have anything to do with Slitherine forums, but there is sadly no updates over there regarding COH. I was not aware till recently that Matrix had anything to do with COH, then upon viewing the forums here at Matrix, was surprised this forum is far more updated and active then Slitherine.
Anyhow I guess I'm in the loop now regarding COH and look forward to the release of the game.[:)]
Cheers

Sure that wasn't posted on 1st April?

The bits of gameplay released for HoS visually was more my thing over CoH. Top down view Tanks with rotating turrets for starters if I remember rightly. Such a shame it's lets be honest as dead as Combat Leader.

Academy Games has COH available now for pre-order; what is the benefit of that versus waiting for Matrix to release? I did pre-order. Will I be able to utilise Matrix patch downloads? Does Matrix ever intend to implement pre-orders?

Unless the pre order price is lower than the release date price, who really cares?

The announcement states $39 download and $49 boxed. I would imagine that the Academy games $49 is the boxed version.

Academy games pre order could be for the board game.

EDIT I went to the website and there is a preorder for the boxed version of the computer game for $49
