My B-24D1 and B-25D1 upgrades occurred on the first of the month following their "upgrade month".

I'm playing vanilla, latest patch.

I am guessing that it is more of an on-map factory deal rather than specific to the P38. I've been wrong before, though...

You must be playing a different version of DaBigBabes than I if you are upgrading from P38Js to P38Ls in July of 1942!
Yeah, Ive managed my production and invested research into the P38L and brought it into play 12 mths early.

Whoops, thats what the JFB try[:'(][:'(]

I was just commenting on my aircraft arriving within the month advertised, and querying whether it may be a P38 thing or only a P38L thing.

[:D]You have hacked the code and unlocked the secret! Let's keep this one to ourselves. Don't let anyone else know. PM is on the way.....

The earlier explanation about a month delay to factory upgrades was based on how it works today.

One of the betas pointed out to me just the other day that there IS some strangeness to the factory upgrades. An upgrade that only lasts a month can be missed because of the 30-day delay to the factory upgrade.

The factory delay came about when the R&D change was made to allow the R&D factory to change to another R&D plane during the last month of research (last big patch). Re-examining the code for the factory upgrade showed that it was using the same code to determine when the aircraft upgrade happens, but the factory code expected something different being returned in that case.

The end point is that the factory upgrade should have a random chance to upgrade during the due month - random(30) meaning that there is an increasing chance to change as month goes on. Today, that chance is slim during the same period which is why the upgrade seems to be delayed a month.

The initial problem might have been caused by a typo in the random value, but the comment I added to the code later matches the initial value rather than what I was intending the new value to do. [Case of re-writing history to match the "facts".[:-]]

I have added this to my to-be-fixed list.
