Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.
Our main forces are coming together but our mortar unit has become separated. I may have to question the commander of the mortars to find out how he ended up so far from the battle.
Hmmmm.....
Good Hunting.

Our continued attack brings good results. The American HQ unit is attacked and some of their Command/Control equipment has been destroyed and the rest have run for their lives.
Good Hunting.

Still the battle rages. This could still go either way and it seems to be slowly tipping in our direction. The American ground forces are in slow retreat.
Good Hunting.

Only to have the US Air Force intervene and end the battle. We are in no position to control the skies. It seems those that control the skies control the battle on the ground.
Give the order to withdraw.
But Wait!!! The Americans are withdrawing!
Hold Your Positions! We've won!!
Good Hunting.

In conclusion, this was a very hard fought battle. As is normally the case when you use full Fog of War (FOG).
I made the mistake in thinking the setup would be on the reverse side of the hill and moving my tanks out first to see if that was true. Only moving my infantry the turn afterwards.
The tanks made the move but the infantry took heavy losses while I saw NOTHING but my own burning BTR's.
It took me awhile to figure out the artillery and airstrike mechanism. Which isn't all bad since for the first part of the game I had identified NO American targets. After watching the Americans use both OBA and CAS against me with great results I learned to use both of them.
Taking the Soviets kept me from using or encountering mines. That's the one item I have left to learn about.
Overall, the battle went well. I don't know what difference taking the wide right hook made. I had some infantry losses but moving directly to the village may have been worse.
With mines the Americans would have probably won this fight. Without the mines I barely did.
I like the game system. It's easy to learn and seems very intuitive to play.
Now, it may be time for a full fledged AAR....who knows....I've been known to do one every now and again.
Thanks for reading along with me and commenting as we went.
Good Hunting.

Glad you are enjoying the game. Looking forward to another AAR. I don't usually like counter style games but WEGO makes a big difference.
Conflict of Heroes "Most games are like checkers or chess and some have dice and cards involved too. This game plays like checkers but you think like chess and the dice and cards can change everything in real time."
