Actually, it seems very complex when you first start, but it grows on you. A lot of stuff is very straightforward once you nail the basics of the game..

logistics is everything!

Support (###) x ###

The parenthised ### are disabled.

This is an important point I screwed up in my post. The parens are disabled, NOT missing from the TOE. If they're missing from the TOE, or, in other words, still in the device pools, they are subtracted from the number outside the parens. To see what the full theoretical TOE would/will contian, use the button labeled that way. The support devices in the parens are there in the base, but in sickbay as it were. They will come back on line over time if certain conditions, primarily supply being present, are met.

2. When units are in a base all of the Support Devices in the hex amongst the various units are totalled and can be shared amongst the various units in the hex that contains the base.

It works the same in non-base hexes. See here:

I have just been able to confirm; A Base with 0 sea plane aviation support requiring 6 pts due to the presents of 6 PBY's at that base, is satisfied by the presents of an AVP in the hex and is listed as 0+6 air spt. Naval units do support PBY's on wheels! BTW the single AVP moved in the base's hex changed the + number (+6) to exactly what was needed. Further investigating revealed to me that each "Support Naval Unit" has a support level listed and most AVP's & AVD's seem to be a 6. [:)]

The AVP is supporting the PBY perfectly. When I removed the AVP (for test reasons) the PBY was unsupported so I put it back and the 6 PBY points are now supported. This seals the effect. Question is a PBY considered a float plane? Are AVP's limited to float plane support?

PBY is considered a float plane, and AVP's are limited to providing AV support to float planes.
