Final air losses - I messed up some deep attacks and the result was a decent result but not great.

I do not know much about my opponent. I have played him in other games in the past and we have started and stopped a game of WITE.
On with the war! May it be fun and interesting!

RE: Axis war diary revisited
great guide i must say!
espacialy the part about taking rout areas first and then attacking russian units to "rout them into the future pockets".
but one thing i would do different then you.
i would take riga in turn one via 1-2 hasty attacks from 2 PD's of PG4. why? because i want to create a railroad through the city and want it secure at turn 2.

RE: Axis war diary revisited
During my tests I found many instances where the NKVD division held out against multiple hasty attacks from PZ divisions. This led to major problems on turn 2 with the northern pocket being reopened which is the most important pocket to reduce on turn 2.
I like your idea but the risk to me is not worth the reward.
Thanks for the positive comment! [8D]

AGS - Kovel held no surprise. Rovno was opened from the inside. Still gonna get whats inside. He tried a counterattack against the Panzer regiments near Rumania and failed so Lvow held. This puts an extra Soviet Mech corp in danger.
Should be a good haul in Soviet units this turn.

AGS after recon - He pulled back and formed a solid line seemingly just out of range of pocketing. he also has started the river line.

Very nice read Ketza, I'm subscribed [:)] Very interested in reading about these changes you mention.
I'm also sort of back into the game, but I think I'll be only taking scenario games.

Although there is some conversation about the air war being broken or ineffective I have seen occasions where air does seem to make a difference in ground combat.

I have found the air war to have a huge effect. Messing around in a human vs human game air support with X cv vs X cv causing routs X% and its high.
My last turn in a server game (human vs human) I had 20 retreats/20 routes (thats 20 battles not units (41 units)) and 14 holds.
So in short ground support can disrupt enemy ground forse and be a huge help when grinding.

Hard fighting in the south. Lvow pocket starts to get whittled down but that is a job for the infantry. The Panzers push east. The Rovno pocket is sealed tight but not before 2 tank divisions rout out from Hasty attacks. The attacks had to be done to get some movement lanes freed up. I added some extra kick to the reserve motorized divisions and attached them to Panzer Corps.

Further south I opted to pocket his relief force with a Panzer corp. 11th army and the Rumanians seal part of the pocket. Its a tad leaky but whatever he commits to save it will die turn 3.

South final. I am pretty pleased with the advance. Several Industries are are feeling the heat and he will have to choose what he will have to leave behind. There are close to 40 divisions in pockets. Next turn I will most likely do an HQ buildup or 2.

AGC after recon. Got to push across the Berezina and put pressure on the landbridge. He has already started a line there.

Hard fighting along the Berezina but the line is breached just enough to make him think twice about trying to hold it. Was not able to threaten the landbridge without inviting a major counter.

RE: Axis war diary revisited
I was in a hurry so AGN infantry moves were sloppy. Also the Sec regiments near Riga held in the swamps which is gonna be an issue I think. The Stalin line fort near Pskov was killed but an actaul attack over the river was not attempted this turn.
