Hi all,

I also very very much like "Thin Red Line" soundtrack by Hans Zimmer (IMHO he is one the the best in the bussiness right now)!

The track #3 "Journey to the Line" is hauntingly beautiful...

"Last of the Mohicans" has a great soundtrack.
I'd rather be lucky than good.

This is the ending for Operation Daybreak. If this music doesn't make you cry like a baby then........

On a different theme, here is a lovely piece of music from Dreamworks How To Train Your Dragon - great cresendo at the end

And finally, haunting music from The Bounty - the closing music as the ship burns.

Anyone care to share other music from movies that tugs your heart strings somewhat or puts you in a reflective mood?

The soundtrack for Glory (1989) by James Horner. Great film.

my fave movie music has gotta be from Kubrick's "2001", esp. as the Pan-Am shuttle makes rendezvous w/ the space station to the tune of Strauss' "Blue Danube" waltz.

jmalter, you are spot on, to me that film had such synergy between the audio and visual that it was "out of this world" so to speak. It put "Also Sprach Zarathustra" on the map. It was the film that set the gold standard for space films... and then of course, there is HAL....

I do have to add two items that don't seem to appear here, or I missed them, one is the Victory at Sea series music, which was great... I had the LP as a kid. Additionally, although I didn't think much of the movie, the sound track to "Titanic" is really huge..... It is great background music. I wanted to play it as background at my wedding in 09, but my then future wife told me not only NO, but HELL no..... I can't think why!

There are so many good soundtracks, it would take a long time list to my favorite ones.

I do own two.

I remember an initial theme variation from steel panthers waw active for a few time (maybe an enhanced release ??).
This introductory music was active only for a few time, very short and repeated theme but very dense of atmosphere.
After a few the standard music was reintroduced.
Someone has heard and know it?

Anything by Bernard Hermann including Cape Fear and everything he did for Hitchcock. Morricone from The Mission. Miranda by Michael Nyman from Prospero's Books. Philip Glass from Mishima.

Beethoven's Sixth in Soylent Green. That piece in Sophie's Choice. That music from Barry Lyndon, I forget what. That music from Enemy at the Gate. Don't know how the trumpeter did that trill over and over, I can't even imitate it, my toungue gets tied up. And of course all that Wagner from Excalibur, it was a bit heavy though.

Oh, Amadeus.

Here's a version (not my favorite) of Miranda
