I think a good start would be collecting the various '101' posts and putting them together (Logistics 101, Repair 101, etc). There are also some nice guides/charts in .PDF that could be uploaded (the Ship Guide in the adjacent thread, and someone had a great PDF with spoilage limits, TF types etc).

I am still learning so much about this game, I doubt I could contribute anything in terms of content, but I would be glad to assist in editing (I worked as a proofreader in a prior life), and asking dumb questions to hopefully identify areas we need more info on!
Just when I get the hang of a game, I buy two more... :)

The ship guide is actually in Skyros's WITP Reference Sheet, along with tons of other info. I recommend you download that one ;).

A wiki would be useful but drumming up support from people who have the time and expertise will probably be the biggest stumbling block. I don't feel qualified and I've been playing since the game was released.

I don't think a wiki would be the finished product. Let me explain how I intended to proceed.

1) I would take a part of the manual and post it right here in the forum

Code: Select all

1.0 INTRODUCTION
In War in the Pacific, Admiral’s Edition™, players
may choose to direct the Japanese or Allied war
efforts in one of several scenarios that cover a
portion of the war in the Pacific, or may choose
the dynamic campaign game that covers the
 entire map.
 1.1 MAIN MANUAL
The scope of War in the Pacific, Admiral’s Edition™ is as vast as the ocean it is named after
and will take an investment of time to learn. However, we know that some players prefer to
dive right in. In that case, in addition to this manual, the player will find a separate Tutorial
Guide that provides a step-by-step experience that touches on the major aspects of War in
the Pacific, Admiral’s Edition™. Players anxious to begin should read through and follow the
Tutorial Guide and then refer to this manual for more in-depth information.
 1.2 EDITOR MANUAL...

2) Then I would solicit any adds, changes, or deletes to the text that the people here feel need to be done.

3) If no update is needed I would simply move on to the next chunk of manual. If changes are proposed and there is a consensus here, I would add them to the master document and move on.

So people would only have to read posts and put in their two cents worth for us to move forward. Sure it will take a while but I don't see it as a burden on anybody. I am guessing that if somebody remembers a clarification that appeared in the form, they just need to point to it. We can also add the many nifty chart and screen shots people have come up with over time.

What do you all think about this approach?
