Who do we add next?

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

@jday305 Those were the GDW Third World War Series, WWIII Germany, Northern Front, Southern Front and Persian Gulf. They were fun, I still have the Germany and PG games myself. Lost the Northern and southern Front games in a move.

Thanks Beachinnole. I loved those games but my house got flooded one year and I lost most of my board games that I had at that time and others through moves. It was too bad as they quit releasing those years ago.

Yeah, If I were to compare what I am seeing with FPC:RS so far to any of them from that era I would say this is "closer" to the GDW Assault Series with better maps (still have those as well and you encouraged me to break them out/look them over). Of course being from the 80s the Assault Series tried to use the geomorphic maps to get varied terrain for scenarios, like the Arab-Israeli Wars, PB, PL series.

I still have the Assault Series sitting on my shelf. Still stuffed with a bunch of modified rules and such. The good ole days...

I loved those old board games but found after a while it was difficult to set up a game and just leave it over a period of time with young children and their cats not disrupting my game in progress. LOL! I guess that is why I am so pumped about Matrix and their games as I dont have to worry about outside forces screwing up my games; just save and turn off the computer. It was also difficult to find others who would want to spend many long hours to play as opponents. I agree with Beachinnole that the GDW series was the first game I thought of while reading about Flashpoint on these forums and now looking forward to its release.

Yeah, I have everything from Assault the Assault series, except the "Replacements"

The one game I really used to play the heck out of was the Arab-Israeli Wars. I have four sets/games, with custom made boards and counters. I really could play Chinese Farm at the divisional level! Have home made counters for the IDF Southern Command, Ha Sinai Sayeret (Recon) Unit, roller bridge and I even had created 1990s Egyptians with AH-1 Cobras, M60A3s and M113s. These days it's all computer for me but fun to take it all out and look at it every once in a while. The computer stores fast and you can easily play over a period of days, but there was/is something about the God View of being able to see the entire situation on a tabletop map [:)]. Like you said, "The good ole days... [8D]"

I voted for East Germans, but would like to see USMC and Norway with the battles in the winter time.

The current thought is moving west. Poland, East Germany, Canada and France. Then maybe north.

I say go north!

Norway would imply some really interesting maps. But probably very cumbersome for the AI.

Also rather low unit numbers

Dagfinn,

The idea is to expand West first (Poland, East Germany, France, Canada) then swing North. Jury is still out on who all the entails, but I would like to see us get into Sweden and Norway and pick up a number of NATO forces in northern Europe. All in good time. [8D]
