Dec 13th - The upgrade to RA 6.2 causes the damn 'sync bug.' [:@] In my version, my PT boats get to transport off Naga and sink CS Chitose and an xAK.

Landings: Manokwari

Subs: [>:]

CVs:
KB1 & 2 - MIA....Day 2
KB3 - 2 North Singkawang
CVEs - MIA

Burma/India:
Moulmein -

Malaya:
Singapore - [>:]
Alor Star - empty base is now Japanese.

China:
Chengchow - 9 Ann hit the AF

Philippines:
Manila - [>:]
Clark Field - 45 Zeros escort in 43 Betty to hit AF; 11b, 1s, 25r. 44 Zeros then sweep. Another 40 Betty come in.
2 SW Manila (Calapan) - 5 Zeros on LRCAP of transports don't slow down the 17 Vindicators. 4 xAKs are hit!![:D] In the afternoon, they come back with 7 P-40s as escort and hit three xAKs and xAP. Over 400 casualties are reported.
An empty San Fernando falls!!

DEI:
2 CA, 2 CL, 5 DDs find my 2 Brit CLs trying to transit the Makassar Straits off Balikpapan. CL Durban goes under quickly with 4 TT hits. CL Dragon gets 4 shell hits and tries to make her way back to Balikpapan. She goes under from a TT hit and an 8" hit from CA Maya in the next round.
Balikpapan - This TF makes her way into port and sink 9 xAKLs and an AG. So much for getting more fuel out of this base.

Others:

Notes/Plans:
My early strategy is to use my three A-24 Banshee DBs to operate from level 2 AFs to sink transports. The Vindicators started at Pago Pago are now in theater.

8th JAAF AF Coy
10th JAAF AF Coy

Banjoewangi - 3 AMc are on southern tip of Java to sweep for any mines. Too bad that KB3 is now 4 NE of Soerabaja. [:-] 15 Zero and 10 Val make short work here.
Soerabaja - 11 Zero and 5 Kate sink 2 HDML. Later, another 19 Vals finish sinking the other 5 HDMLs. I have my fighters all in training to get some Air Skill before throwing them out there.

Others:

Notes/Plans:
Tom has allowed my troops to clear the plains without much pursuit in China. I'm trying to establish a defensive line in the forest and rough hexes.

CVL Hermes, 2 CA, 2 CL, 4 DDs leave Colombo

Big "E" arrives at Sydney tomorrow.

Headed for Christmas Island (Line Islands) are an USN BF, USA BF, and Construction Rgt on fast transports (16 knot).

Michael, what's your thoughts on grounding the Dutch Air Force? Some believe it is just cheap experience for the Japanese fighters.

Mike - I feel I need to try to get some training done by them before throwing them away. Since most of my Aviation Support for them is at Batavia and Soerabaja, I will fly them is masse from these two bases with some other smaller bases that are hopefully away from his fighters. I look at them as a shot gun, just a shot in the general direction and hope some hit a ship.

Notes/Plans:
PBYs - One of my early war obsessions is in deploying these guys. After the Luzon campaign slows down like it has in this game, the 2 PBY-4s head for India. One goes to Ceylon and the other to Diamond Harbor. The Brits and CW forces don't have good naval search with those small 6 plane PBY groups. Two PBYs are now in DEI (Manado and Koepang). The 3 DDs, 2 AVD and AV targeted this turn at Canton break up into 2 AVD and a DD to Tulagi and AV Wright with 2 DDs to Ellice Islands. They will support a PBY group each. Others are at Johnson Island and Canton. I try to get coverage across the central through south Pacific to Australia as soon as possible.

Wirraways in Australia - Mine have rested to morale 99 and over half are now training in ASW. Eventually, I will spend the PP to upgrade to Hudsons for actual ASW Patrol.

Screenshot shows shipping headed in the greater Ambon area. Three subs await then at base. At Darwin, the worse of my three A-24s have rested and been training in NavB (only up to 27 skill - was in low teens). I also have 21 P-40s training and the rebuilt 18 Vindicators (NavB at 44).

Any SIGINT hint to where he might be going? If I remember correctly he is also playing a game vs. GJ in which he went for India?

Jocke - In his game vs GJ, they are playing DBB 30 which is stock Scenario 2 with DBB modifications. In this mod the IJA is still like Scenario 1. The IJN gets lots of changes, but this version of RA goes with DBB-C in which cargo capacity is cut by 1/3 for all transports on each side. One of the reasons I'm focused on merchants and the addition of three A-24 groups plus the Vindicators at Pago Pago have helped.

No intel on much yet. I have IG, and parts of both 5th and 18th ID in Malaya. 4th ID on Java. 48th and 16th on Luzon. Intel did report 38th ID going to Oosthaven.

So where is 21st, 33rd, 55th, and 56th ID?? Some SNLF and Naval Guards are combined into Assault Divisions with added support troops.
My guess is the need to convert some xAKs to have greater troops capacity and less cargo. Those take time. I didn't do anything in this mod on the Japanese side. I did get some few increases in Allied aircraft production, but none of those changes happen until mid-42.

Ah, I guess that rules out a major expansion into India/OZ then? I´m not familiar at all with the Japanese merchant fleet but I assume using a big chunk of the Merchant fleet to supply troops far away from the HI is not a good idea?

You have no sight of 21st, 33rd, 55th or 56th at all yet?

Nope!! SOP for me is to hit the "L" button as soon as I open up the turn after replay. [;)] 33rd is already prepping for Rangoon at start (located at Nagasaki), so I would think she is headed for Bangkok first before going into Burma.

Notes/Plans:
Screenshot shows the siege of Manila will begin soon. If you are playing with the modified pwhex files that impose stacking limits everywhere, you 'must' retreat to Manila vs Bataan. I did remember some things from Q-Ball vs GreyJoy's game and had some of the now useless BF and other support troops retreat into Bataan so there are less mouths to feed in Manila.
