RE: Hunting Bear: Decisive Victory
Same day...
July 24, 1989 at approximately 1200 hours (day, clear, visual 5000 meters)
3rd brigade of 2nd Armored Division received an order to defend all strategic objective near by or around town of Sottrum, Hassendorf, Dodenberg, Hellwege, Unterstedt, and Rotenburg. H hour is at 1500 hours, and ordered 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division to preparing a battle position(s)/strong point(s. It will be one longest day ever I have....
In other hand, I heard that West Germany and British brothers in arms did fight well and continues to push Soviet back to east.....end game is near. Rumor that Government of Soviet Union threatened to escalate the war with nuclear. President of United States warned that NATO and its allies is preparing to retaliate in event of nuclear escalation.

RE: Hunting Bear: Decisive Victory
Another contested battle! Well done, gentlemen. 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division fought well. Our Air Defense commander(s) learned the lesson(s) from the previous battle(s), and greatly improved AD capabilities. AD assets managed take out 16 Soviet Helo assets: Mi-24P, Mi-24V, Mi-24VP, and Mi-8MT Hip out of the sky. Outstanding, gentlemen! At first, Soviet 18th Recon Battalion, 353rd Guards Tank Regiment, and 200th Guards MRR tried to fighting against us in the open field near or around Platenhof and Botersen but in heavy cost. Soviet 18th Recon Battalion was rendered combat ineffective, and being routed by 2nd Armored Division. Elements of 200th Guards MRR and 353rd Guards Tank Regiment decided to withdraw from the open field, and turn southeast toward Rotenburg in order to secure the strategic bridge(s). Elements of A and B/3rd BN/41st Infantry Regiment blown the strategic bridge(s)in order to making them to pay, and suffering world of hurt from A and B/3rd BN/41st Infantry Regiments' assigned kill zone and artillery bombardment. Elements of 200th Guards MRRS and 353rd Guards Tank Regiment managed to secure three objective(s) before they decided to withdraw from the battlefield, and then limping back to east. 3rd brigade of 2nd Armored Division continues to stop Red Bear from gaining the piece of land to west.

RE: Hunting Bear: Decisive Victory
July 25, 1989, 0700 hours (Day, clear, visual 10000m) 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division received an order, and preparing to march east in order to secure the strategic objective(s) and defend it. H hours is at 0700 hours. Here we go, gentlemen!
Then it happens. "Mooouuunnt UP!!!" cries the Lieutenant, and circles of men scattered, striding quickly to their modern-day armored chariots. The snap of plastic buckles being connected, and gunners clambering onto the roofs of their armored chariot. "Good to go!!!" can be heard throughout the assemble zone, over slamming hatches/doors and idling engines, as final crew checks are done. "RedCon 1" comes over the radio, as the commanders check in with the Tank and Mech Platoon leaders. All is ready. Armor is on, ammo ready to be loaded into clean weapons, radio constantly chattering. "Renegades, this is Renegade 6, follow my move." The platoon of tanks and mechanized platoons lurches forward as we pull out of our spot and into line. The dust fills my nostrils as we move; I grip the handles of Mama Deuce for stability. I am back, and it is time to ride. - "The Blog of War" page 140.

RE: Hunting Bear: Decisive Victory
Tough battle, 3rd brigade of 2nd Armored Division managed to hold the line but 254th Guards MRR, 197th Guards Tank Regiment, and 245th Guards MRR refused to retreat, but continued to pressing on. D/4th Bn/41st Infantry Regiment tried to hold the line near by Segehorn and Oyterthunen, but was forced to pushed back.....
Elements of 197th Guards Tank Regiment, and 245th Guards MRR decided to change the direction to south/southeast in order to secure the objective, Borstel, and Oyten. Elements of 200th Guards MRR successfully secured the objective near by Bassen. C/4th BN/41st Infantry Regiments managed to halt elements 200th Guards MRR, and 197th Guards Tank Regiment near by Achim/Speckenholz. C/2nd BN/66th Armored Regiment managed to halt elements of 197th Guards Tank Regiment near by west of Achim. Almost four hours later, 245th Guards MRR, 197th Guards Tank Regiment, and 245th Guards MRR were forced to withdraw from the battlefield due to high percentage of casaulties/losses.
Again, tough battle.....

Campaign history:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Flashpoint Campaigns - Red Storm
US Campaign for Player 1
---------------------------------------------------------------------
0400 hours, 20 July 1989 forces of the Soviet Union crossed the
border between East and West Germany near the town of Bad
Neustadt, West Germany. The attack had been concealed by
months of diplomatic maneuvering by the Soviet Union to get the
world to believe it was pulling its combat forces out of Germany
and promoting unification.
What was in fact happening was a plan to put all of Western
Europe under Soviet control. The Warsaw Pact had been getting
weaker and NATO was getting stronger. Cracks in the Warsaw
Pact nations support for Soviet policies, along with Western
economic stability has led Soviet leadership to assume a course
of offensive action against NATO.
As the attack develops in the Fulda Gap the Americans are hard
pressed to contain the offensive there. The entire operation in
the Fulda Gap is a diversion and is intended to simply draw off
the reserves and combat effectiveness of the NORTHAG.
Here, on the North German Plains is where the decisive battle is
to be fought. Here, there is a single US Combat Brigade of the
2nd Armored Divison. The famed 'Hell on Wheels' division.
They are defending the area to the east of Bremen. The larger
German port must be kept in NATO hands. The assignment is
as difficult as it is important. The Soviets can attack across
almost perfect tank country. The sparsely forested plains make
for rapid movement.
All is not in the Soviets favor. They are going to be in the
crosshairs of NATO's most destructive weapons the entire time.
The engagement ranges here are the longest in most of North
Western Europe. When Close Air Support is used it will be very
effective against vehicles and troops in the open. Here there are
few places to hide.
The battles for the city of Bremen will be hard fought and costly
to both sides.
Who will be the ultimate victor on the North German Plains?
Come and try the US Campaign Hell on Wheels and find out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mission Briefing for CA1 Hunting Bears:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Because the Soviet attack hit the Fulda Gap first and there was a 2 day period where nothing happened in all of NorthAG except logistics strikes on command communications centers, airfields and assembly areas the 3rd Brigade of 2nd Armored Division ( Hell on Wheels) deployed to an area east of Bremen.
NATO High Command could not determine if the Brigade should be sent south to try to support 3rd Armored Division or to stay in their own Area of Operations. In the end they did not move and were in position when the Red Bears came hunting across the North German Plains.
The Soviet battle formations are finally on the move from their eastern bases in the North German Plain. Time to see how treadheads do against the Russian Bear.

Scenario 1: CA1 Hunting Bears starting at 0400, Jul 22 1979

RE: Hunting Bear: Decisive Victory
Thank you, Erik! [8D]
Mad Russian, I love it and find it very challenge in a great way. I will play it again, and try to do it little better.
I would like to try campaign as British or France or West Germany or other NATO's allies one day. One day, I will try to play as Soviet Commander but Blue, Red, and White is in my blood (NATO commander) : ) It would be cool if I can play as East German or Czech.
Congratulation, Red Storm Dev team for design the great game and campaign scenario(s) [&o]
P.S. I also own Fulda Gap '85 and Danube Front '85, I have a hard time to decide which is more fun to play, but I find Flashpoint Red Storm very addictive [&o] and still making me to play one more round!!!

Working on a West German campaign at the moment. The British are problematic because of unit nomenclature. Working on getting that right then maybe will get one done for them too.
Good Hunting.
