East Front Scenarios material

Post by governato »

Just a link to a book with very detailed information about company to regiment scale actions on the eastern Front. It's a great read!

I hope it will be useful to design other exciting East Front scenarios :).

This one is probably useful as well:

Thanks Governato this will be useful. I appreciate it very much! I've got another scenario I will likely push live tonight. Objective Taganrog. Its set in 1941 and covers part of 14th Panzer's drive on Rostov-on-Don.

I would like to say well done, CapHillrat.
A relative was a German officer in the Stalingrad battle, and I read his journal perhaps~ 20 yrs ago. Your scenario could be taken right out of his notes. Incredible job sir[&o]

Thanks Navwarcol! Much appreciated. I have another scenario for Stalingrad coming out within a day or two. It is called Race to the Volga and covers the entry of the German forces into the City.

RE: East Front Scenarios material - Russian Comabt Methods

Another good link to Red Army troops tactics

Russian Combat Methods in World War II

Beware that it is described from the German point of view with an eye on the Cold War (the book is from 1950), but it is quite useful.
Even modern sources from Russian archives emphasize the lack of flexibility of Red Army units below division level. It'd be great to have that reflected in the AI behavior.

EDIT: link now works!
