Larry,
How big are the changes for STBP?
Somewhere between 3 and 5 percent. By the way, what does STBP mean.
ORIGINAL: dlazov66
Also, is this F40 yours and if so where could one download it and playtest it.
I found France '40 in the "Classic TOAW" scenario folder and haven't changed anything.
ORIGINAL: dlazov66
BTW, I found a bunch of scenarios that I worked on 'back in the day' these were mostly ports of either board games tweaked for TOAW.

Its been at least 8 years or so on some of these files (2006). I started messing around (playing) my GDW Sudden Storm (a scenario for the old board war game Fire in the East/Scorched Earth without 'ants') and my SPI War in Europe. So far they both play really well (been through 3-5 turns) but not sure how old of the engine there were designed and created.
Have you published your scenarios? Where can we obtain these gems? And thank you for your efforts.

I'm in the process of making the hole in the French lines bigger. This is what it looks like in T11:

EDIT: Looking at this picture now that it's published gives me the idea to strip the front lines of every available combat
ready unit and sending them here to concentrate on getting Paris so the French will surrender. That's the theory

Here's the hole in the French lines in T12: The French have made a half-hearted response and with a few more good units I could
probably force my way into Paris but I'm not sure I could hold it.

According to the score-o-meter I've won a marginal victory already. So I can slow down and protect my troops and not be in such a
hurry to do things. Not that I don't want to win big.

Here's the front lines in T13. I'm making several bulges and I'm hoping to turn the bulges into a surround situation.

Here's the T14 front lines. I did a one-bridge-too-far kind of thing. I was attempting to get Elmer to react and drove my "recon" unit
further and further out and finally Elmer reacted and cut off my unit from it's supply. D'oh. So now I've got to organize a rescue party
to try to save that one unit out in Indian country.

I managed to "connect" the original culprit with a LOC but not much in the way of supply I'm afraid. That unit is out there in the single
digits at best. That's why the game has slowed down remarkably. Low supply levels.

Here's the front lines near Dunkerque now. I'm in the process of mop up in some areas and still pushing in others. It's looking good.

Here lately Elmer has gotten crazy w/ busting bridges. Even those that aren't in any danger of my crossing anytime soon. And I've not
found any engineers yet to repair them. There's a couple of engineer squads in some of the Corps HQ units but they don't repair just
every time you try if you know what I mean.

Something has gone terribly wrong w/ my TOAW game engine. I go to do a "save game as" and the
dialog box opens and the proposed filename is correct but when I click on the SAVE button nothing
happens and no file is written. The only button that works right is the CANCEL button. So I'm going
to quit the program run and restart TOAW and resume a saved game and chose the auto.sav
Wish me luck.

EDIT: It worked. I'm back in business and will continue the saga.

Down in the lower right corner of the map I'm just about to dispatch a bunch of French units. They are isolated and out of supply and
should go down relatively easily.

And this is the Paris area now. I opened that hole real wide it turns out. I was pressing for Paris w/ this south wing but then ran out of
supply and now everything has nearly stopped. It's okay though 'cause there's only two more turns. I'm not sure I could capture Paris
in just two more turns anyway.

Here's the lower right corner now. It's almost over. The mop up operations I mean.

And there you go. The Germans win this time. I need to play this thing from the Allied perspective to see if the Allies can win. Actually
Steve Sill has already made the changes to his Sicily to Brenner Pass and he sort of expects me to playtest it because some of
the changes hinge on gameplay. Or maybe it's that gameplay will have to accomodate the changes. So after I do the
Sicily to Brenner Pass scenario again it seems like it's going to be time for Cartwheel. Steve has made some changes to the
France 40 scenario to make it better and I've got that scenario on the back burner. I need to make a list somewhere that gives
my itenarary scenario-wise.

Congratulations for your victory. [:)]

I am not a good player clearly but I have never succeeded to follow the pace of the German operations in the Classic France 40 scenario.

I am wondering if others are able to perform a breakthrough, and to reach the sea, cutting allies in Belgium at the same speed. Looks like this is not what was done in this AAR but perhaps this was your plan not to do it.

Thanks

The reason I am asking is that I am wondering if this comes from the way I am playing or from the scale of the scenario (15km per hex / half week turn). I am playing against the PO (strong level) with 3.4 version.

But, for example, against PO (strong again) with 3.4 version, I am having less difficulties to follow the historical pace of operations playing Fall Weiss 39 scenario.

Anyone interested by the same scale than Fall Weiss for this battle i.e. 5km per hex / Full day turn?

I plan on doing this scenario one day, using this 5km map that Rick made. I can cut out most of Germany and add back in the blacked out area below the Loire (which I removed for the 1944 scenario). Unless anybody thinks the south of France should be included.

Don't know when I'll get to it though, its going to take some time to put it together. Hopefully somebody already has a detailed oob that is reliable.

Regarding your concerns with the France 40 scenario, you are not the only one with difficulties. That is why there have been several mods to this one over the years.

Nice map [8D]

Good to know it is existing. Is it already used in a TOAW 3 scenario?

In fact, I was myself starting a map at 5km per hex to do a Fall Gelb scenario. This is clearly an alpha so far...
