The Book I have (Warships After Washington by John Jordan) state that the design consisted of:

"The flightdeck was 332Ft long with a single elevator at its forward end, and there was a fixed funnel and an island carrying the fire control installations to starboard. The take off/landing area was angled at 2* to maximize the width of the flightdeck abeam the island. The three triple 6in turrets were close to the bow, with the third turret superimposed, the main HA battery (comprozing eight single 5in/25-caliber guns) was amidships, and there was an air group of twenty-four dive bombers or fighters. All aircraft could be spotted on the deck, and could then be flown off in the 130Ft remaining with 30 Knots of wind over the deck (although the dive-bombers would have to be under-fueled."

Yeah, but back then you could design something and then have it fail spectacularly after being constructed. No computer models.

Either way, the point is moot. Your mod, your call.
