Happy Birthday WITPAE! This game is better than it's ever been.
More stable, more bug free, more understood, more fun.

In fact, it's so time consuming, if we could just get world leaders playing it
they would not have time for real war.

We should send a copy to Putin, then some of you real good players could tie him down in a long PBEM game.
That would take care of the Ukraine situation.

Yes, WITPAE could be the greatest instrument for world peace ever invented.

You'd have to have the Soviets unlocked from the begining of the war. Then we'd have to add another acronym to our jargon....SFB or Soviet Fan Boy; But this would drive us Star Fleet Battles players nuts.

How many other "electronic" games are still as popular FIVE years after release? Most are in the clearance bin in half that time....

And it's still in the New Releases section of the forum... [8D]

What an achievement. [:)]

Cheers,
Reg.

Every once in a while we still get queries from folks asking if this game would be a good investment?....Since most of the plankowners are still playing it..I suspect the cost is down to maybe 50 cents per game?...

Remember when the game was finally gold but we still had to wait for that crummy printing sticker which the feds just HAD to see on the manual..LOL

I don't recall there being a hangup for that, but I do vaguely recall there was a hang up shipping the physical manuals from overseas.

I do....

It was "printed in china" sticker or something silly that they couldn't ship without wasn't it?

Nah, the game came out after my divorce. I took it up because since she was gone I felt I needed something else to drive me crazy.[:D]

WitP AE consumes 90 percent of my gaming time.

My dear friend, the late George Meyer (who owned, by my best estimation, over a hundred board games covering the past 40 years) felt that AE was "perhaps the finest operation computer game on the Pacific War".

Bought the first WitP, never played it (was completely overwhelmed and clueless as to how to learn the game); only now, five years after AE's release, a serious amount of reading and awesome help from this forum do I feel that I have enough of a basic grasp of the game mechanics to play a campaign game against the AI.

While I have many other fine war games (just recently I purchased Civil War 2 and all three of the Command Ops - Battles from the Bulge series), it is AE that constantly pulls me back. My solution is to do a turn of AE, then allow myself to try some thing new. Rinse and repeat.

AE is incredibly addictive...
