THE SOLUTION. Created from a deactivated Ft. Bragg, NC, PaxAm is a sprawling, revolutionary prision camp for savage convicts--guarded by deadly machines and run as a world independent of America. Its embittered warden, former Marine Colonel Dwight Renfro, metes out brutal justice as he struggles to rebuild his own shattered life.

THE PROBLEM. Into this cruel environment comes ruthless international arms dealer Gunther Zeiss, bent on revenge against the United States... and with billions of dollars to bend a huge inmate army to his will.

THE CRISIS. In a night of horrifying conflict the nation's worst nightmare is realized. As the storm gathers, Renfro, the timy Marine Corps Reaction Force, and the FBI must all face the unthinkable... an all-out assault on American soil.

I see, Bullwinkle is Renfro, struggling to rebuild his own shattered life. [:D][:'(]

I see it. I don't have a dang Kindle. I still order wood pulp. My brother is a writer, mostly Sci-Fi. He teaches creative writing in college. I'd give you his name but he doesn't want to be exposed as a gorn. [:(]

If you have a smart phone or a tablet there are free Kindle apps that turn it into a reader.

How much of the 99 cents per download does he get? [:'(] He must be a multinickleaire by now. [:D]

If every forum regular ordered a copy I could fulfill that dream of having a cheeseburger. [:)]

Seriously, I get $.17. What Amazon giveth, Amazon taketh away.

If you've ever written something for publication you know how it feels to open the royalty statement and see that X more people--somewhere, unknown to you--are reading your words. It hasn't been about the money since Denzel refused to call back in the 2002 with that sweet movie deal.

I can report that:

a) buying a copy will prevent you from buying that candy bar from the vending machine, you load! [8D]

and

b) there is a P-51D in the book.

I bet it's like the Matrix forums and you get counted everytime you check on your own thread.

Can I fly it without a license?

Seriously, I'm busy enough trying to read that Atkinson trilogy thingie. If I move your magnum opus to the room where I sit on the Thomas Crapper contraption, how will I ever get Atkinson done?

The human reaction is as most declare above; the problem is that the good old USA with it's enormous incarceration rates has created a large sub-culture of inmates (I have seen figures as high as 1.5-3% of population) who know nothing other than the prison system. There is little if any rehab at these huge universities of crime and sooner or later they do get out. I don't profess to know the solution but I do know the current system is broke.

Yeah, well the police need jobs too. And the lawyers, and the judges, and the corrections officers and the parole officers. Are you some sort of Canadian Commie?

Blaming the prison system never leads to anything remotely addressing the issue at hand. Criminals are not created in prison. Sure they train, practice and get better at being criminals in prisons, but outside the walls is where they make the decision to go bad. It is society as a whole that breeds the scum we see in the world today.

The society we live in today is pretty much an unaccountable one, from the President on down to the lowly panhandler, the entire system is rigged to avoid holding anyone accountable for anything unless law enforcement goes through herculean efforts to catch the bad guys. The result is we see hundreds of thousands if not millions of young people making the life choice every year that a life of crime does in fact pay off and lead to early and easy riches.

If society was far more accountable and prison terms were served in full, there would be far fewer examples of scumbags who got away with it roaming the streets to impress young people into becoming scumbags. Then you’d see the numbers of dirt bags in the world begin to decline, but until that happens the prison system will be over-crowded far into the future.

The sad truth is even with the system full to bursting, the average criminal only serves about 20-40% of their sentence behind bars. Criminals laugh about how easy it is to do time, to them it’s a joke not a deterrent.

+1
We are no longer responsible for our own actions. It's been that way since at least the 60s and has led us to where we are today. Everyone has an excuse or a label from a doctor to blame their poor life choices on.

I have tried to make a Dropbox link to the map artwork that was included in the paper copy, but is not in the e-book. Picture worth a 1000 words and all that. My first try with Dropbox.

There are three maps: an overview at the state level of the area covered by the plot, a site view of the prison, and a detail view of the Access Area. All are to scale. I own the rights to each (paid artists.) They are in various file formats, but should be viewable on most computers.
