Ok, forum folks, I am working hard on being an intelligent poster. As I said earlier in the thread after downloading Chemkid's dotmap for the stock map and Halsey's updates, I no longer have Japanese Port and Airfield icons visible in the map. My game version is: 1.7.11.23x10 Aug 23 2014. I will double check to see if this is the latest patch. I have attached a screenshot of the problem. This shot is from the Dec 8th grand campaign on turn 1 looking at Japan. I will switch to Japan to see if I have the same issue looking at the Allies.

PS. I have two hard drives so I copied the old map icons out and pasted them back in. Everyone is back to their normal colors :)

Edit: Fixed for clarification

Just a quick update, since I just played out a turn as the Japanese. So its like the Allies, you can't see any port or airstrip icons at the start. But once you play out a turn, anywhere you have ships or planes that interact with an airstrip or port now shows that port on the map. So I don't know if its a bug or not. If its a patch change, then I get it. You shouldn't know is planes or ships are around unless you recon or attack the area. But if its not intentional, then it should change back. Everything is hard enough for me!

everything past #1 is personal preference/taste, but most would agree to install the latest beta patches to any new game start

1. Beta x10 patch

Hi DanSez

After slugging it out with the Japanese in a few scenarios over the past months, I'm finally setting up my first turn (Allies) on scenario 6 (December 8th campaign). I've invested 20 hours or so, using Kull's excellent starter spreadsheet. Yeah, I'm slow. I love it thought.

Is it still possible and wise to update to the latest patch? I have not ran a turn yet. I don't want to endanger my setup, but I've heard such good things about the beta patches.

Will you advise?

All the beta does is change the exe. Nothing else. I have upgraded PBEM games and against the Ai with dozens of the betas over the years with no impact on an ongoing game.
