Purchase Price Questions..

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

time spent doing it, development costs more likely...

think of it as a long term investment...

indy game, 1/10th of the price and 20 odd hours maybe game play or sometimes more game dependant

mainstream game, half the price, 40/60 odd hours game play

fps / first person shooter on xbox one, same price with 20/40 hours game play but sells in 10,000 to 100,000 units plus so development costs per return are better, but still has a higher price...

WITE still not finished it after 3 or 4 years of playing it, so game time is long term so worth the little extra

same applies to WITW tbh

and no i'm not selling it, i just seem to live here atm

This is just a question, not a complaint! If I buy the game, it will be the most expensive game by far. I normally pay 35-50 Euro for a new games. What makes it so expensive compared to other games?

Plus many of us REALLY want WitW features in WitE 2.0 and that will not happen unless people buy this one [:)]

If I purchase the Download or Boxed Edition of the game from outside Australia why do you charge Tax as games can be purchase from outside Australia up to the value of A$1,000.00 without paying VAT or duty to Australian Customs?

Is Tax payable on purchases from Australia and if so what is the amount?

If the games is sent from outside Australia to Australia how do you pay Tax (VAT) to Australian Customs if it is not required?

What is the postage cost to send the boxed game to Australia?

It's no great mystery - games of this scope, detail and realism are meant for a niche market. There are only so many folks in the world who are interested enough in history, strategy and conflict that they really want games like this. We happen to be some of those folks and we do our best to give gamers like us the best game possible. Gary Grigsby and the 2by3 Games team are pretty unique in the world as far as their ability to take these historical topics at a grand scale and really make them work in a realistic and detailed strategy game.

Unlike many less expensive games on the market, there is really nothing else quite like these games. They are made by master craftsmen like Gary and Joel over many years and the price is set to allow them to continue to make these games that we all love. If you enjoy games like these, the value you get in terms of replayability and hours of fun per dollar is absolutely unmatched and would still be at 2-3 times the price IMHO.

- Erik

I don't know all the answers off the top of my head and I don't want to give you an incorrect one - the taxes and VAT are handled by our store partner, who has an entire department that keeps track of these international tax laws. If you feel it is incorrect, please drop our Help Desk a line (see my signature) and they can follow up with you and our store partner to make sure everything is a-ok.

If price is an issue, just note, new games are always expensive, even more so when it is on a dying breed such as what we are interested in. Hey on the bright side you can always wait for 5-6 years for this to be cheaper on the X-mas sale. [:D] Just boils down to if you want it bad enough now or later. Myself, with limited game time, still working my way across the cold war in Flash Point. But think I will go grab WiE and expansions this year, as I have always wanted to give it ago, even if it is a time sink stopping other games. Will grab this soon, as the urge is just to great.(and give them time to work out any bugs which always happen.)
Cheers, and game on brothers.

Ps - wish it covered the early war too as Germany headed West. - Maybe an expansion...

tbh if any of the developers wanted to make money, they would make fps instead of war games, as mentioned above it's a very small niche market, but price is very good compared to xbox one games and hours of game play still...

Yes, I know. It's Matrix games so the price will be the same for a long time. But that is not an issue. It's all about fun. Will I have twice as much fun with this game as it is twice as expensive, then I'll buy it right away. If not I'll wait some years [:)] The problem is that I do not know, so I am waiting to hear some response from the fans!

Hi jnpoint,

Have you played other similar wargames? If you've enjoyed them, you will certainly enjoy WITW. If not, but you are interested in these kinds of wargames, then WITW is probably one of the easier ones to get into. I can also recommend some others depending on your past wargaming experience and preference for complexity and theater.
