RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
Looking good! I like the one dropping the torpedo best. I think Chaim (a.k.a. Tinjaw) is just about finished with his graphics mod and just needs some Aircraft to put in it. [8D]
RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
I'll grab these new images and include them.
RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
I agree that the released torpedo is better. Which inspired a new divebomber. Also, I have a transport plane. The remain 2-3 will probably be a little later in coming. They are a bit harder, and things have gotten busy at work. We'll see.
Gary, you mentioned that you picked up new uniforms for poser. Which ones did you get? I have looked around some awhile ago, but had trouble finding ones that I liked for various purposes.

I bought this one a few months back. Very well crafted set.

Ah, that one. I did find that one some time ago. I think I picked it up as well. I haven't played with end of rendering much, since I got immersed in the modeling. That has been fun, but is a bit tiresome. I confess that on the last one, I did cut some corners in the landing gear as well as some of the textures. They aren't that visible for this purpose, and I am busy.
I was kind of hoping for a broader set, especially one for officers. I was thinking of tackling Generals at some point. But, it is most like a bit off.

Yeah. Finding clothing and props for different renders often involves a lot of improvisation. There aren't a lot of choices out there. I work with DAZ Michael 4 for rendering. Some of the clothing items I use are for other characters which I've altered to fit Mike 4--just because I can't find what I need.

I realized that I made a mistake with the last two files, they were 192x142 instead of 192x144. Also, I made two alternative views for the strategic bomber and added Kamikaze.
A snap shot.

Looking great! The only thing left is the level bomber, right?
RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
Could we also have the B-17 as a strategic bomber?

For what's left, I guess that depends. In principle, level-bomber, carrier dive bomber, and V1 and V2. I just started a He-111 for level bomber. There are a class of planes that would work well for this, with the Heinkel being on the verge of a strategic bomber - maybe level 1. The other candidates are Do-117, Mitsubishi G4M (Betty), and B-25. The Heinkel will also be a bit difficult to make. It is the only plane I've started that is clearly not symmetrical. To some degree, it might be nice to have a separate plane for each level of the strategic bomber.
I'll look into the B-17. I chose the B-29 because it is a true strategic bomber and I knew it would be easier to make. The turrets aren't glass and is pretty straight forward since it is nearly a perfect cylinder. After the He-111.

RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
Cool! Did you make the model for the B-29 yourself?
RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
Yep, I made all of them with blender. I confess that on some of them, I cut some corners since I knew that in the end, they would be a 192x144 figure. The main corners are the engines, which I did not attach to the wings and the gun turrets, where there is no slot for the guns to traverse up and down. Also, with a silver body, I should put in the panels and rivets, which is a lot of work through a bump map. The body is pretty quick. I can make the fuselage, tail, and wings in about an hour or so now. That is getting quicker. It is more the cockpit, small details and the coloring that takes time. I have found a reasonable secret for the UV map that makes it come out reasonably straight so that writing looks right. The He-111 will be rather harder because it much less symmetric (what a dumb thing to do), the cockpit is complicated, and it has several glass turrets.

Amazing! Absolutely amazing looking models! [&o][&o][&o]
RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
I'm adding these to the 3D graphics mod as they are posted here. Keep 'em coming. They're great.
RE: Aircraft SFT Pictures
Thanks, will do. It might slow down a bit, this He-111 is a bit of a b..ch.
