The Japanese planes all have the Cathartes plane tops. Yes they are the best in my humble opinion. Just seemed odd that the Japanese planes have them but the Allied planes don't

That makes sense - the source of my Japanese plane art files was Between the Storms, but the allied plane art files were based on stock. At this point I'm not sure if doing a conversion for the allied planes would be worth it, as I'd have to individually change the tops in the art file, as many of the allied planes are in different places now.

FYI- Canadian Destroyer should be spelled 'Ottawa' not 'Ottowa'. Also, second Canadian carrier is Colossus 'Bonaventure', the first two Canadian carriers were "Warrior" a Colossus and "Magnificent" a Majestic. Bonaventure was the unfinished Powerful and never saw service in WW2.

Thanks, I'll fix the Ottawa.

The addition of the Bonaventure is intentional, as are the accelerated Colossus class ships in this scenario. You'll notice that both New Zealand and Australia also each receive a Colossus class ship in 1943.

Okay, makes sense.

I think the Warrior should come in as Canadian as well, I don't think she ever actively served in RN before her transfer to Canada. The embarked air squadron numbers match those of the Canadian squadrons that were stationed on her.

Patch 1.01.2 is up, and can be found here.

Features
Training squadrons for Japanese Army and Navy on the Home Islands

Balance Changes
Increased aircraft replacement pools for certain Japanese air-frames. Low replacement pools of 10 a month or below were not significant for the Japanese player, and very low replacement pools tend to be unreliable for actually producing the allotted air-frames per month.

Increased Soviet replacement pools of certain air-frames.

Toyohara now has a sizable force of fighters to protect it from Soviet bombing from the mainland.

Bug Fixes
Fixed the spelling of the Ottawa
Changed CVL Perth to CVL Victoria as not to conflict with CL Perth
Re-named duplicate VMF Squadron 1011 to 1012
The CVL Warrior is now a Canadian ship, not a British ship

Known Issues
Pack Ice prevents navigation of the Bering Sea to the Arctic Ocean to Prudhoe Bay.

Technical difficulties prevent me from using the hex editor to fix this issue. If anyone has experience with the editor and would be willing to edit the hex file to change the hex types, that would be fantastic.

So, who's playing this? I'm playing a couple of other computer games, but intend to come back to Focus Pacific in a few weeks. Paradigmblue has done some excellent work.

I'm playing it solo as the Allies and have to say the AI doesn't know how to use all the new toys.

Am in mid March '42 with a an Allied bastion in Java and Sumatra that the AI is killing itself against.

III Indian Corps and the enhanced Dutch are holding Sumatra while the I Aussie Corps and the enhanced Dutch are holding Java.

Have sunk 2 CVs, 5 CVLs, 3 CVE and 5 BBs for no loss to the Allies.

Russia has separated Manchuria from China and took Harbin in mid February.

I'm going to keep playing for a while to see how resilient the AI is, but will likely go back to Ironman Nasty Nasty as it is about the only scenario that can give a decent game solo.

Great scenario. Lots of toys.

Would be a knock down drag out fight two player.

I have also been fiddling about and have been enjoying the toys. Would be an ideal scenario for 2x2 play.

How would you break it up in 2x2?

Had an interesting glitch over the weekend.

I'm in mid March '42. Early in the month I sent all of my CLVs in for their flak upgrade (not conversion to CVL which isn.t available yet).

The first to come out of refit, the Wellington, came out with air groups upgraded to F4F4s and TBFs even though I don't start getting TBFs for two more month and have none in the pool to replace losses.

To boot both squadrons resized to fit the converted to CVL ship size.

I've reset them to "Resize to Fit Ship" in hopes they will downsize and allow flight ops.

Apparently the air upgrade for the CVL conversion kicked in during the flak upgrade that is available before the conversion.

@HansBolter: Did you get the French DDs out of Kwangchowan?

Just curious.

Thanks,
Nate

Heck no!

On December 8th I used the transports at HK to amphibiously transport out as much of the British garrison as possible to Kwang along with the British air and have added Chinese LCUs to turn Kwang into a fortress the AI can't deal with.

The French and Brit DDs have been making regular runs on HK and Canton and have the highest crew experience in all my navies as a result.

None of the others have come out of refit yet, but I think a couple are only a few days out.

Melbourne had the same problem as Wellington. Resizing air squadrons again.

Savannah came through without any problems.
Charlotte lost it's air group completely. Just vanished. Canabalizing marine squadrons to get her operational again.

All the British hyrids came through their flak upgrade OK.

Bump.

This thread is slipping.

The mod is interesting, but if it's not going to get support I will have to start a new game of another scenario.

Have invested considerable time in this....

@Hans Bolter -

I had a VF and VB 104 show up at Cristobal after my CLV conversions, sizes 12 and 8 respectively.

Wonder if this is my Charlotte air group.

Thanks,
Nate
