Command Air/Naval Operations receives a stand-alone expansion!

Command: Northern Inferno is a DLC for Command: Modern Operations. Set in 1975, the Cold War is omnipresent and beneath the veneer of détente the tension between the two superpowers irreversibly escalate towards the ultimate confrontation.

Consider me sold. Wanted to try the game but too expensive to pull the trigger for the big edition without trying. So, well done

How much will it cost out of interest, does anyone know?

Will this version be newbie friendly? I mean with a tutorial and scenarios not too overwhelming?

To me the price was not the issue to pull the trigger, it was more about the overall weaponry knowledge required, I watch few youtube video, it did look interesting but did not have any clue about the terminology and the actual use and difference of the weapon/vehicles.

One last question, will the mods/scenarios be compatible with the standalone version?

I'm guessing that the final release of v1.09 will coincide with the release of NI, which is 22 October...am i right? would be nice if it came out sooner.

We have added a number of tutorials from Mark Gellis and Tomcat84 in order to more gently introduce new players to the game and its mechanics.

If you mean the community scenarios, these will be playable only with the full CMANO license. The standalone NI license allows playing only the tutorials and the "Northern Inferno" campaign scenarios.

Thanks.

I doubt the devs are able to disclose anything at this point. However when you look at the general pricing trend for scenario packs that are published by Matrix you see that the download versions tend to be around 20 euros/bucks and the boxed edition around 30 euros/bucks.

I like the campaign part. What I would really like to see is a futuristic campaign(s) with:

US vs China- DF21s vs carrier and surface battlegroups and some sort of story line and campaign. A clash between Japan and China with the US joining in or Taiwan conflict.

A resurgent Russia vs the West.

This is a great start though...

Multiplayer when it comes out will be great. RT and WEGO would be awesome-if that is practical.

So Matrix says it released today but there's no purchase options or info?

In the UK at least, Steam normally puts out new releases at 6pm GMT, so I'm hoping it's up then - however, the Steam page is actually counting down to midnight...

What do RT and WEGO stand for? (I'm new to this, and Google isn't helping!)

RT means real time and WEGO means simultaneous order and action phases, the alternative is IGOUGO which is more traditional form of turn based gaming, the same system as in board games.
For me Steam says that release is on the 22nd and that the game will unlock in 7 hours. That means that it will unlock when it is 23rd already. Seems like someone dropped the ball on this one...

Guys the game is out on our sites but Steam is having a fit with the size of the file. THe upload failed so restarting and hoping it goes through this time. Been trying to get this out all day!

When it does release your serial number form us is also your steam key so you can redeem it there.

I have bought first the boxed version of Command, then activated the Steam version, now correct me if I am wrong, if I buy the game on Matrix Games, the serial number wil also activate the steam version ?

Thanks !

Yes that is correct for Northern Inferno - as soon as its available on Steam you'll be able to unlock it.

For the original Command we had a different system which is a bit more fiddly. You can find more below. We use the new serial/key as its more convenient but this is only available on newer releases.
