+1. Then maybe next time I won't think that my commander counter is an infantry unit...

There's also the color of the NATO symbol that represents the unit type. Blue for AA, brown for ATG, white for Transports, Yellow for Leaders, Grey for HQs, etc...

The basic twelve color codes as available in Alt Counters in the colored bar in the bottom are explained HERE.
No thats not in the manual, man that was bugging me.I looked and looked had no idea what those colored bars were for. Probably should be in manual, somewhere[:)] ....nice feature.

I don't buy all the wargames I want, I just buy more than I need.

Duly noted about the manual! Will make sure these things are included in the future UPDATES.

Updated the download archive with a better quality graphics sheet. For some reason the JPG version in the previous load was quite blurred. Here's an bitmap that should be as sharp as they come. Just download again, the url remains the same.
ORIGINAL: Crossroads

Edit 10/4/2015: The download link below now includes a hi-res version of an up-to-date NATO icon listing.

Per popular request, here's a quick zip download including:

[*] A numbered picture of all NATO symbols included in 1.00
[*] A PDF explaining each of the symbols.

[*] Download available HERE

Related tips and hints for unit identification when playing 2D:

[*] Consider having the unit 3D picture shown in the Hex Infobox (Menu: Options -> Infobox Counters OFF)
[*] Toggle NATO icons with Unit Icons <ctrl+i>

@Jason: perhaps sticky this post for now?
