RE: New Public Beta v2.0.2.3 for WiF
Well we both have the beta patch...Linked up in Netplay and got through most of setup to the point of Russia calling out the reserves....Then as Axis I was left waiting for the Soviet to finnish that phase while my openent was waiting for me to place the Finns. I have tried to play Barbarossa so many times now and my friend and I are at the point of losing to many Monday nights when we decide to try this only to fail. How are others playing this or is it just me. My problem now is to try and get my friend back to try again as he has had enough of losing Mondays nights being wasted trying to get this to work.....If this is going to be the latest patch then im sunk. HOW can I try and play multiplayer or is it still a waste of time?

Titan - FYI you can play your head off with Teamviewer. My buddy and I have. Easy and free. Just so you know.

How does that work? Plus does it mean things like naval wont affect it? IE is the whole game solid?

I am growing concerned at the delay I receive every time I move a unit or so - in late 42, early 43.
I suspect it's about the unit density, but by now any unit I move takes litterally 10 seconds or so to get moved, sometimes even more.
And my pc - meanwhile not being some uber modern pc, is neither something old and rusty.

I would like a saved game with instructions on how to reproduce this - if it is available. The problem is almost certainly recalculating supply when there are secondary supply sources that cannot reach a primary supply source. That can happen to many secondary supply sources in Africa, Asia, and South America (although I believe some code I added ~6 months ago fixed that problem with South America).ORIGINAL: Cohen

I have several games that I am using to test the time to calculate supply - when it takes too long. One or two more would be useful.

I am planning on a Hot Patch for version 2.0.2.3 on Wednesday, October 28th (Hawaii time). I want to give the beta testers a couple of days to run it through its paces.

I have the same concern. I also get the same issue when returning German subs to base in the post turn sequence.
Great with a hotfix!

Here's the save. Recently updated to the latest patch too but alas did not improved.
The delay is pratically anywhere, from moving ships to moving Germans in Russia and so forth.

Out of interest...How come it can be played on something like team viewer with such relability and not Netplay which is designed for such stuff?

Well, with team viewer you play hot seat and let your opponent take control of your computer and play that way. Its not the most secure way of playing, but it works.

On Teamviewer you can use Hot Seat or Solitaire which have grown to be much more bullet-proof. Both sides have to "look away" when the other examines or receives entry chits though. And of course not everyone is comfortable giving others desktop access to their PC. Mind you, you can set up a session-only password so nobody can connect unless you are there (and not "looking away" [;)]).ORIGINAL: Titan

The NetPlay bugs are being hammered on but at this stage using Netplay and beta testing are synonymous.
BTW in the NetPlay Tech Support sub-forum, I replied with a theory of the problem you two had.

I have played through TeamViewer and Google Hangout. Both work fine with the benefits and drawbacks:
TeamViewer:
+ Both users share screen, mouse and keyboard. Makes easy to give orders to non phasing player.
- Guest can control host computer through mouse & keyboard (you will see it)
Basically, it's exactly as playing hot seat with your opponent siting in the computer when he needs to. If you go to the toilet, the other guy is in front of your computer. So use it the same way as you would do it if you had him siting next to you. I played with a friend who I trust and would mind to let him with my laptop for 5min, so it was ok. On the other hand, anything he does, you will see in the screen, so he can break havoc in your computer without you noticing (unless you leave the room).
Google Hangout
+ You only share the screen, but the guest has no control to mouse and keyboard. Safer.
- Non phasing player has to give orders (by chat or voice) to host as he can't move mouse pointer.
It's like playing hotseat, but your opponent will not sit in your computer, just tell you what he wants to do. Once the impulse is finished, you change roles (guest/host), send the save file of the game, and start another connection.
If you know each other, I would say TeamViewer. To play with an stranger, if you want to keep your paranoia under control, Google Hangout.
