Let me be a little clearer. In real life the USA did not support China with weapons and did not place a full embargo on Japan until Japan took French Indochina.
I would not be against the lesser embargo. At least not as I remember it. The USA did start some moral embargo on Japan earlier but it wasn't much. It also supported UNOFFICIALLY some American volunteers that went to China (can't remember their name -Flying Tigers??- right now but my Dad met them when he served in CBI during WWII--he was the third man in the cockpit of C-47's that flew the hump). Maybe 1-2 P40's SFT at the maximum. No ground tech.
Isolationism was very strong in the USA even against helping even our good allies in Europe against the Germans aggression. Although we did institute the Cash and Carry policy earlier--whoever had the money could buy stuff in the USA and pick it up here--definitely aimed for the British since Germany was blockaded by the British Navy. And we did start depth charging U-Boats in May of 1941 in International Waters (in violation of Neutrality Laws--but Germany did not react because it did not want War with the USA.

I like the idea that USA cannot declare war on Japan until Japan attacks someone other than China (like Mongolia or Russia). Although that might be too restrictive....??

1-Let me notice that this game is not a simulation of WWII, so it would be ok to send weapons to China to avoid a Japanese victory.
2-Sending weapons to China is a logistical nightmare and needs the cooperation of GB, France or USSR
3-I agree that the best way would be to have China and USA played by different players, but where we will find a player for China alone?

We could ask balooo7777 Falco RufusTFirefly or Jeffrey there are more GD1938 players out there, I could play China if necessary giving them a Run at the ultimate challenge Germany and Italy, it could be their finest hour.
Are we like late Rome, infatuated with past glories, ruled by a complacent, greedy elite, and hopelessly powerless to respond to changing conditions?

If you are an experienced player, willing to take on the experienced Sino-slaughterer LJBurstyn

I thought you were looking for a GOOD experienced player. [8|]

I suck at attack, but am willing to put this game first to keep turns going fast. Have most trouble playing two nations at tthe same time. I'll throw my name in.

Thank you baloo7777!

Don't worry about attacking too much - it is not a very necessary skill set for the Chinese player.

Well, my turn is in the Dropbox. Thanks go to baloo7777 for taking on the real challenge of playing the Chinese.

In one game I played the USA-I found it VERY hard not to come to the aid of the Chinese...unfortunately that game was over before I could end Isolationism.

If you join this game please accept the following house rules :
1. The Soviet Union may not ally with any Axis nation (GR, IT, JP). Game balance issues, and historically unlikely.

2. Allies may not enter another allied country without permission, unless forced to retreat there by combat. This will prevent an exploit like my taking the ports of Persia in G20. If the ally gives permission then the terms of the permission must be honored. If you are allowed in Munich, don't head for Berlin. If you are forced in by a combat result you must leave ASAP unless the owner gives shelter.

3. Do not attack a country unless an opposing player will be defending it. This must be observed in spirit as well as the letter. If the defender cannot be counted upon to put up a vigorous defense then don't make the intrusion. If the war is "phony" then don't allow it. Both attacker and defender should make a good fight of it.

We will play with the latest version (v.2.21r) so Germany should be aware the minor nations will be tougher than before. It is January 1938 so each nation can take some extra months to prepare for a war which did not actually come till September 1939.

We will play with allied unit sharing but without the too revealing shared recon.

These house rules are in effect, correct?

I think we all signed on for this game with these rules understood.

They are experimental, some have never been tried before, but I think it will be of interest to see how they play out.
