Indeed. Is there anyway to see battle reports and or where battles have taken place in this interface? Would be nice to have the list of ships sunk as well. ;)

This looks promising guys. Thanks.

I think so, but I think it's still a bit bugged. Don't know how, but I did once use a map mode where you could click on all kinds of events. Battles, sigint, things of that nature. Right now I can't for the life of me find it again.

I don't know who these people are, but if "Historicalgamer" and "Baloogan" are pseudonyms for "Alfred" and "Nemo121," I'll sit up and take notice.

I'm neither of them. I don't hide behind avatar names.

According to that provided link, "Historicalgamer" doesn't have experience playing as Japan. I rather suspect that our dedicated JFB players will squirm at some of the game decisions from "historicalgamer". But then, a mistake is not a mistake if the opponent does not exploit the error.

Alfred

I was paying you a compiment in replying lightheartedly (not seriously) to the original post.

I have it on good authority that it's not his real name. Maybe Alfred is his middle name. I'm told it's Detective Sergeant Joe Friday, you know, "Just the facts, Ma'am".

After reviewing the site, I concur that having a battles and/or ships sunk list would be very helpful.

Didn't somebody a few years ago make a site that could do exactly what they've done here? Basically dumping Tracker and the map to a website?

Didn't it look pretty much like this? Is this the same thing?

If only I had that much time on my hands...

How do you change your side restriction? I made a mistake and picked Japan....GP

Has anyone tried to post comments yet? I registered on the promise of being able to post "on the map" - whatever that means- but have not been able to find a way to post anything. Maybe it is not set up yet? There should be a way to contact the site administration.

Thanks to CptEggman for making this thread [:D] and for your kind words (And thanks Sard and Feltan!).

Events/Sigint/Combat results start on Dec 8th, should show up tomorrow.

Good idea! I'll add that.

Right now there isn't an easy way; we really don't want to be spoiled on any secret plans the other player might have. I'll happily change your side restriction if you could tell me the side you would want (Japan/Allies/Both).

Comments are attached to units and bases, to post a comment on Pearl Harbor (assuming you are not japan side restricted like I am) one would go to this page here http://www.operationglacier.com/Unit?ti ... onGlacierI

Copy pasting my post from the original thread:

This uses the excellent WITP Tracker to help generate the data for the website.

Allies-Only Map

Japan-Only Map

Combined Map

Pearl Harbor makes a good example for a quick tutorial on the Operation Glacier interface. I followed War in the Pacific UI as best I could, so if you are a WITP veteran the UI should Just Make Sense.

Clicking on the red circle brings up the comments made on that hex.
Image

Clicking on the red 'X' up top brings up all the events that occurred on that hex.
Image

The anchor icon brings up all the ships disbanded in the port.
Image

If we click on the BB Maryland link we get a neat graph of damage over time along with information about the Maryland and its [s]class[/s].
Image

If we click on the float plane detachment we get a whole pile of graphs for this unit. I swear these graphs will get more interesting after the first turn...
Image

Back to the map! Clicking on the little square with an X through it in the lower left corner brings up the 'land combat units' in this hex.
Image

And selecting one... Huh, I wonder what happened on the 7th!
Image

And finally, the little Task Force icon in the bottom right!
Image

Finally, one can change the underlying map as well as apply filters to the visible units. (More filters to come! Suggestions very welcome!)

Very cool, Baloogan. Although I don't know yet which side to choose, I will follow with interest.

EDIT

One thing, I'm not seeing any "red x" to click on at the moment to, say, get information on the PH attack.

I can click on the ships stationed in PH to see damages though.

Gee, who knew! You made the web interface. That is exactly what I was remembering. I found it interesting, but only really useful if you were going to do something like what you're doing.

Figuring out how to place events is a bit tricky, all the events from Dec 7th will show up on Dec 8th. All the events from Dec 8th will show up on Dec 9th and etc.

OK, I found the comments section on the individual units, but I am wondering how I will make general comments on a particular battle or proposed strategy. Maybe that is not the intention for our participation in your site- it is the model for participation on this one - so let me know and I will tailor my responses to what feedback you want to get.
