First: good luck and have fun! [:)]

Second: how many enemy fighters have been destroyed at PH? Then I think you can choose for a second run or not.

18 x A6M2s lost hurts, personally I never use carrier's fighters on strafing.

Welcome aboard Alessandro, unfortunately no can do with an historical start, they will strafe on turn 1.

CHecking again I lost 20 x A6M2s on day 1. DBB flak is deadly.

In one of my PBEM games i was the Allied player and my opponent stuck around for a 2nd day of PH attacks. The problem was day 1 left several CAs/CLs undamaged and 4 BBs lightly damaged. I sortied 4 surface TFs with 1 BB each and 2-3 cruisers, 3 out of 4 caught him and he lost two CVs sunk and two more damaged for a loss of 2 BBs and 3 CA/CLs. The 2nd day air attack got chewed up as only 3 of his 6 CVs could conduct flight ops and he did no additional damage to PH or the ship stationed there as most of his attacks were going after the surface TFs that had attacked him during the night. That game ended before the end of 1942, in large part to the damage he suffered staying around for a 2nd day strike at PH.

Yep good and aggressive Allied players will surge out of port and try to catch KB which can horrific consequences for the Empire.

Day 2

Well not a bad start right across the board. The worst part of day 2 was a clever B-17D strike against a port which cost Jeff a number of planes but did damage about 8 ships.

I chicken out on the second day of strikes against Pearl not that I was squeamish on aircraft or pilot losses (I just lost 60K of aircraft in my game against Mike) but I am risk adverse with KB.

Jeff as expected did surge out of Pearl with everything and I suspect if I had stayed I would bump into one of his SAGs. Instead I managed to dodge him and sent a couple of DDs to the bottom.

So far 2 US BBs and Repulse have been sent to the bottom which I am pretty happy about. [:)] PoW can't be too far away either and badly hurt near Singapore.

Repulse biting the bullet.

Russia- mobilising now and moving to my jump off positions.

Have to settle the Chinese police action first [:)] and smash the Commonwealth forces, so still about 5 months off before I pull the trigger. That will give me time to also have aircraft production pumping to overwhelm the Reds.

Singapore- with PoW and Repulse now out of the way I am accelerating all fleet movements to the South.

I'm prepared to take losses here but I want to absolutely steam roll the Brits and the Dutch. Once I seize a couple of the critical airfields and cut off Singapore the campaign will largely be over before it begins- well that's the plan.

And the mass of shipping assembling and pairing up with their escorts.

Roughly the equivalent of 3 + divisions and all of their support elements heading off to the unknown.

At least I think I know where they are going and hopefully it will be a nice surprise for Jeff when they reach their destination. [:D]

Similar to my jumpoff point as well ... target is 1 may 42 ... for similar reasons. i need enough modern aircraft and i need enough lb ground and fighter pilots trained ... both of those lines cross near 1 may for me ...

I'm way behind you though and I'm playing an Ironman Nasty Nasty mod. I haven't been able to run a turn in 2 months and likely be another month before I do. [:(]

Life.

Signing in here - good luck! I guess you had a good down payment on that with Turn 1. What carnage!

I'll be doing one side of this one so I might make more than technical comments. Just be advised that I give really bad advice. You have been warned! [:D]

D + 6 Dec 13th 1941

Generally things are proceeding to plan. Jeff does appear to be a very competent and dangerous opponent which should make it a great game. Thus far he is always looking for an opportunity to sting me whether it be laying mines, sending surface groups after my troop convoys or bombing my ports.

Still casualties are relatively light and the timetable remains on track [:D]

Pearl

KB hung around a few more days to ensure nothing was going to chase my tankers or in case he got ultra aggressive with his CVs.

I also wanted to give the perception to Jeff that I might have another crack at Pearl. In reality I was also providing cover for one of my amphib taskforces to seize Johnston Island.

Nothing really happening in China yet.

Another week it might get interesting but it depends how quickly he withdraws from the trap.

DEI

More action here as a key amphib taskforce closes in on a critical objective.

Opposition has been light except for some half hearted air attacks.

The main theatre of action has been around Singapore

The key operational concept here is to clear the flanks of air and naval threats so my main troop ships can plunge straight into the DEI proper and secure the oil.

Jeff is putting up some decent resistance here and it has already cost me one convoy which thankfully was empty. Still the positions are falling and Singapore will be bottled up soon.

Realistically, once the captured airfields really become operational the campaign from a naval and air perspective is largely over.

Not sure Jeff got the memo but nothing will be happening at the Philippines for some time yet.

I am used to Allied players withdrawing their air and surface units once they realise I am heading around the flank straight into the DEI. I think their still is quite a bit of combat power left here which I will be keen to kill in the next couple of months.

I do get the impression right across the map that Jeff is keen for a stoush which will fit nicely into my plans for the next 6 months (as long as he doesn't win )[:D]
