Ok... I love that Map [8D]
Please post when you have an Andrew Brown Extended Map compliant version completed (you say below "Should have all the labels done next week.")

You've made a lot of progress - the map looks great!

Since I have been going through the same process modding the Yamato Damashii SunnyDay map, here are a few notes based on the discussion so far:

The applicable map sections between the stock/extended maps are numbers 00, 01, 09, 15, and 24 (for both the 'WPEH' and 'WPEN' prefixes). What I did on my map mod was to create another layer on top of everything else, then I put copies of the applicable stock map sections into it. This layer can then be turned on/off in Photoshop to produce the stock or extended map variants.

This will be a bit more difficult for you to do since Chemkid had already produced both stock and extended versions of the map I was working with. You'll need to either re-blend the map or perhaps use a cloning stamp to extend the coastlines in the appropriate places.

The parts that change are:
1) the frame in sections 00 and 01 of the upper-left corner of the map.
2) The west coast of Luzon in the Philippines; the roads NW of Manila also change.
3) The western coast of the Malayian peninsula is extended.
4) In the Solomon Islands, the Shortlands base is changed to Buin and Shortlands is moved one hex south to the actual Shortland Islands.

It helped me to take the stock and extended versions of the v1 Yamato Damashii map and put them into separate layers in the same Photoshop file. Then zoom into an applicable section of the map and turn the top layer on and off to get an appreciation of the specific map differences. That might give you a better idea about how to best attack the problem.

As for creating a 'dots' version of the ocean hexes, I can help. I've attached a .zip of a Photoshop file containing the dots already masked for the map. Just import it into your Photoshop file and combine it with Chemkid's land hex mask that he provided in his latest map upload (the 600MB+ one). Then you can turn the appropriate layers on/off to create no hex, pure hex, or hex/dot hybrid versions of your map as needed.

I'm going to download and try out in several days. But is there any help for the muted roads/trails? If this can be achieved, I think dear sir, you will garner laurels, accolades, and the deepest respect of this community!

@MakeeLearn - please consider using the network layers included with the 'layers.zip'.
these files ('4_TheNetworks_multiply.tif' and '5_TheNetowrks_normal.tif') should help to easily mask the effects applied to the vanilla map. good work - please continue!! [:)]

Thankyou very much, I had two great maps to start with. Iam doing what Chemkid said with the layers and some painting by hand. I will post some pics soon and see what people think on the colors.

Ive got the network layer sliced into the individual bmps. Just dropping the rails looks good, but the roads being black also makes it difficult to differentiate. The yellow and grey looks best and ive been doing some by hand. Will post some previews.

Its a fight between playing or modding [:)]

I've been following this and it looks very good so far. I say stay with the dark roads as they look better.
A player can always use the hot key if necessary.

Good work.

I like it, look pretty cool and more realistic than default one.

I gotta say you did a great job on that map. Now this want me to come back and play again.

Any chance you could do an extended map version?

Sure. Iam unclear on the differences. Is it actually more map, or just different off map sites?

Any News on the extended map version? I have created a crude "do-it-yourself" version since I play DBB - but I ain't no artist...

working on the stock roads/rails, hopefully done by new year. Then will turn toward a extended map. I would like to see your map, post some pics.

Hi,

It seems that the Luzon and the Shortlands modifications of the extended map are already included in your map.

You would need to modify a coastal hex on the West coast of Malaya, the off-map bases of Aden and Abadan and the "North" i.e. western part of India with the additional bases like Quetta and Peshawar.

For my mod I have just made a rough and shody copy&paste job for the Aden and Abadan bases, good enough for me. I have not included the aforementioned additional bases in India as I don't see any need for them and I have put the base slots to other uses.

Looking forward to see your polished version of the extended map!

Looking VERY NICE. One thing I noticed. LCU icon's are on top of the Names of locations. Not sure how I feel about that though....GP
